Our friends at Health Policy Institute of Ohio have released an analysis of the economic impact of eliminating disparities in Ohio. The first-of-its-kind analysis found that by eliminating racial disparities, Ohio could gain $79 billion in annual economic output by 2050. This represents a 10% increase over current gross state product.

The Ohio Health Information Partnership

The Ohio Health Information Partnership is a non-profit, independent, private organization that started up in 2009 with $43.8 million in federal HITECH grant funding from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology. Over the next 10 years, The Partnership would embark on a mission to assist physicians and other providers with implementation and adoption of health information technology (HIT) throughout Ohio. This momentum began with the creation of the CliniSync Health Information Exchange (HIE). Today, CliniSync continues to break through the brick and mortar of hospital corridors and practice walls by allowing Ohio’s healthcare community to exchange patient health information no matter where members are located.

As one of the most successful health information exchanges in the nation, CliniSync has connected 150+ Hospitals/Health Systems with thousands of physicians and more than 500 long-term, post-acute care facilities. Additionally, CliniSync’s Provider Directory is home to over 15,000 Direct email addresses. But CliniSync is not just connecting physicians and practices. Many behavioral health, mental health, social services and EMS personnel are also accessing patient health records. Clients are provided with notifications if patients are admitted or discharged from the hospital or Emergency Department and facilities can exchange Continuity of Care Documents. Every day clinicians are getting a better picture of their patient's health.
