“BuT dEaDlIfTs ArE bAd FoR yOuR bAcK” 🙄😒

Deadlifts didn’t hurt your back.
They exposed a problem that was already there.

When your spine doesn’t move the way it should, the surrounding muscles, joints, and discs get irritated fast. Now your body starts to compensate. Things tighten up and your nervous system goes into protection mode.

So you lift → tweak something → rest → repeat.

This isn’t because deadlifts are bad. It happens because your body doesn’t have the proper movement patterns to handle the lift.

And no, foam rolling your hamstrings for the 47th time isn’t fixing a spinal issue.

You shouldn’t have to avoid the gym. You should be able to train without your back flaring up every few weeks.

Everyone hears “disc bulge” and thinks their spine is falling apart.

Relax.

Discs are tough. They’re designed to handle load, movement, and life in general.

Yes - discs can get injured. They can bulge, herniate, protrude, extrude, sequester… A lot of fancy words that mostly mean: your disc is not happy.

What actually matters is what’s happening around it.

When you don’t have proper motion or alignment throughout the spine, the surrounding and supporting structures can become irritated and more predisposed to injury. Your nervous system ramps up and pain follows.

That’s where chiropractic care comes in.

36hr fasting recap!

My reason for doing this was to give my body a metabolic reset and time for increased cellular cleanup (but there are so many other benefits)

Physiologically during longer fasts:

• insulin drops, allowing the body to access stored energy
• the body shifts toward burning fat for fuel
• growth hormone increases to help preserve lean tissue
• autophagy increases

Autophagy is the body’s cellular recycling system. Old or damaged cell components get broken down and reused, helping keep cells healthy and functioning more efficiently. ♻️

A few tips from doing these:

• start after dinner so you get two nights of sleep during the fast
• stay busy - otherwise you’ll just think about food more than you already are
• you will p*e constantly 😂

Pittsburgh roots. Former collegiate athlete. Chiropractic school in the Finger Lakes. Columbus ever since.
