Bonnie Darlene (Vogel) Boston, of Hillsboro, died on Monday, March 4, 2025, at 8:25 p.m. at the Montgomery County Rehab & Nursing Center in Taylor Springs.

A private family graveside service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 17, at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro with Mike Plunkett officiating. Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.

Mrs. Boston was born on March 6, 1934, in Hillsboro, the daughter of Hazel (Micenhiemer) and Ernest Vogel. After graduating from Hillsboro High School in 1953, she married Robert Boston on June 4, 1954, in Hillsboro. He preceded her in death on Sept. 5, 2014. Along with raising a family together, they enjoyed taking long drives while also watching for eagles, deer, and all things wildlife.

A lifelong resident of Hillsboro, she was a hardworking woman and a dedicated mother. She spent many years in public service as well as holding a variety of skilled jobs beginning in her teen years. In addition to working as a bookkeeper for small businesses, she served six years in the Montgomery County Circuit Clerk’s office. Then, when Millie Clotfelter sought retirement from city hall, city clerk C.W. Boone pursued Mrs. Boston to fill the position where, in 1984, she implemented the city government’s first computerized bookkeeping system. She enjoyed working with the public for many years. Mrs. Boston reluctantly retired from the workforce in 1996 due to medical concerns, but went on to enjoy traveling and grandmothering.

Mrs. Boston was an honorable, strong, and capable woman and always put family first. In addition to raising her three children, she looked forward to and loved visits by her grandchildren and was delighted when her great granddaughter arrived into the world.

She often stated, “I love watching things grow.” A favorite pastime was planting and nurturing flower beds. Mrs. Boston was also a devoted bird watcher, making it a priority that the residents of her bird sanctuary located outside her kitchen door were well fed and watered daily. Reading natural remedy manuals as well as any newspaper she could obtain filled her afternoons up until her final days. She loved sharing the knowledge she had obtained throughout her years with her children, grandchildren and her coveted great granddaughter.

She is survived by three children, Steven (Teresa) Boston, Barbara Boston, and Christina Boston, all of Hillsboro; four grandchildren, Nathan Boston, Megan (Trevor) Gadsmith, Carli (Justin) Denton-Fisher, Claire Boston-Denton; and one great granddaughter, Sawyer Gadsmith.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Boston was preceded in death by her mother and father, all six siblings, and one grandson, Kevin Boston.

Memorials may be directed to Cross Over Ministries/The Haven Home of Hope or to donors’ choice. Online condolences may be left at www.basspattondeanfh.com.

Robert Wendell Weiman, 95, of Witt, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, in Hillsboro, Illinois. A Memorial Service was held on March 25, 2025, at Hillsboro Free Methodist Church. The family has entrusted Bass Patton Dean with arrangements.

Robert was born in Gladwin, Michigan, to the late Claude and Gertrude (Denzer) Weiman. He graduated from Gladwin High School before attending college in Spring Arbor, where he met the love of his life, Emadelle Shipe. They married in July of 1950, and built a life centered on faith, family, and service. Emadelle preceded him in death in March of 2019.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Robert was known for his kindness, compassion, and sense of humor. He always had a story or a joke to share, bringing laughter and warmth to everyone he met. A gifted musician, he and Emadelle filled their home with music, often singing hymns together. His love for God was evident in everything he did, from serving as a music and youth leader at Grayling Free Methodist Church in Michigan to traveling on mission trips to Africa and Haiti.

Robert lived a full and adventurous life. He owned his own construction business, taught building trades until his retirement, and even fired a steam engine. A man of many talents, he rebuilt Farmall tractors, flew and operated his own airplane, and served as a volunteer firefighter in Jackson, Michigan. He was also a proud member of Kiwanis in Spring Arbor. In his later years, he made his home in Witt, having also lived in Midland and Grayling. Despite all his accomplishments, his greatest joy was his family. He never missed an opportunity to remind them of his love, often saying, "I love you a bushel and a peck."

Preceding him in death are his parents, Claude & Gertrude; wife, Emadelle; brothers, Wesley, Elry, and Harold Weiman; sisters, Charlotte Patchett and Gladys Lamoreaux.

Surviving Robert are his children, Bill (Linda) Weiman of West Virginia, Chuck (Sharon) Weiman of Iowa; daughters, Phyllis (Ronald) Gregg of Michigan, and Dorothy Alonzo of Illinois; 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
