It's finally here! We get to start connecting again! Washington County has been cleared to enter Phase 1 of re-opening on June 1, 2020! My schedule is open and ready for you to book online.

I've learned so much from this experience, I suspect I'll be processing for months. One thing that I understand right away it is that the connections I have with other human beings are necessary for my happiness and well-being.

And that includes my connections with all of you. I've missed you. I've missed our shared chats filled with laughter and tears and insights galore. And I miss helping you release all those things from your body so you can go out and be your best for your own shared connections.

AND WE GET TO DO THAT AGAIN!

But...it's vital that we still remain cautious as we introduce ourselves to our new world. Which means co-operation from all of us.

I'll only be seeing two clients a day to allow proper time between each session to thoroughly sanitize surfaces and air out my office. I currently have 10:00 am and 4:00 pm appointment times available. If those times don't work with your schedule, contact me and I'll do my best to accommodate you.

I'll be checking my own temperature daily and wearing a mask for the duration of your appointment as well as continue to socially distance and limit my excursions to only those necessary.

I will be keeping a list of the names of clients that I see in order to help with contact tracing.

I need you to follow a few guidelines as well:

PLEASE DO NOT come for your appointment if you are sick or have been in contact with anyone who is or may be ill. Check your temperature before your appointment, if it's over 100, CANCEL YOUR APPOINTMENT. There will be no charge for appointments cancelled because you're not feeling well.

WEAR YOUR MASK. The insidious aspect of this corona virus is that it's possible for you to be a carrier and not be showing any symptoms. Wearing a mask reduces the number of airborne particles that you're adding to the immediate area. You will not be required to wear your mask when you are face down.

I want to speak frankly for a moment. While all of these measures go a long way to protect us, there is no getting around the fact that maintaining a distance of six feet is impossible with massage. All of the safety precautions will be taken because they do make a difference, however, that doesn't mean I can guarantee your safety. We don't have to avoid connecting, but we do need to be responsible about how we connect. And we need to understand that there is some risk.

If you've made it this far, I'd like to remind you that you can currently purchase discounted gift certificates via my website. The price will go back to normal after 6:00 pm on Sunday, May 31st.

Due to COVID-19 containment measures, I will not be practicing for the indefinite future. I’ve reduced the price of gift certificates that can be used once my doors re-open and I’ll be offering a massage package option for a limited time soon.

I want to encourage everyone to stay inside if you can and connect with people via video chat, text, email, phone, video games…all the ways we have the technology to help us stay connected right now. I’ll be making appointment times available for 30 or 60 minutes to connect via video chat for anyone who wants a place to vent. There will be no charge for these appointments, though donations will be accepted. ;)

I've been going back and forth on whether or not to close my doors. It's hard to imagine stepping away from supporting others at a time when we all need so much support.

However, the time has come to shift that support into something with a little less touching...so we can all get back to touching each other.

I'll be closing my doors for the next two weeks. I'll be re-assessing the situation and if there is a clear "go ahead" from those that can watch this all from a better perspective, I'll open again on April 4th.

If you've got a massage scheduled with me between now and April 4th, let's get you rescheduled right away.

I've gotten a lot of positive feedback from you about the time we take either before or after your massage to check-in about your life. Taking the time to assess your feelings goes a long way in helping your body physically release tension. While keeping a distance of at least three feet from each other makes physical massage inappropriate right now, we can still have our chats.

Please feel free to contact me and we can set up a video chat or phone call. These times are scary. For all of us. We can keep our physical bodies healthier simply by connecting with each other. Reminding each other that we're all in this together and that we've got each others' backs.

Plus, seeing another smiling face is just good for the soul.

I currently have several open times during the week of April 6th and I'll be opening up for several weekends to try to accommodate everyone.

In the meantime, I'll be doing a deep clean in the office and will have a brand new waiting/quiet room all set up and ready so you won't have to wait in the hallway, or you can lay down after your massage and settle back into the world at your own pace.

I'll keep you up-to-date to any changes as they arise.

Selecting particular days and times to offer my workshop at a discounted rate wasn't feeling good and wasn't getting the response I was hoping for.

Happy Wednesday!

I'm still looking for those individuals who are interested in helping me shape my workshop. I'm offering three discounted opportunities to learn how and why regular massage is both important and something we can do with our loved ones.

The workshop will be for two people to take together. We’ll cover common complaints (working too fast, too deeply, too lightly), contra-indications, a basic full body massage flow as well as how to address some different types of stress and relaxation techniques. You won’t be able to go get a massage license, but you’ll be able to work longer than 10 minutes on your loved ones without your arms and hands aching. ;)

This workshop will be informal with an easy flow and I’ll ask for constructive criticism to help shape the experience. The times I’m offering are:

Friday, February 7th @ 4:00 pm
Friday, February 14th @ 1:00 pm
Friday, February 21st @ 4:00 pm

The cost for the workshop will be $25 on the 7th and 14th, and $50 on the 21st. (The price will then increase to the normal cost of $100 in March, and the workshop will be offered at all the regular times massage is offered.) Slowing down and taking time for human connection is becoming increasingly more important. But it can be hard to find the time or find an appropriate way to feel connected.

Massage is an excellent way to connect. An excellent way to relieve pain and reduce stress. An excellent way to love in a fashion that is neither sexual nor romantic, but rather supportive and caring.

Getting a professional massage once a month is a great way to maintain your health. But it’s really better to get massage much more frequently. And, massage does wonderful things to help human beings connect. Rubbing your partners aching back, helping your roommate with their tennis elbow, easing your child’s headache, or supporting your friend while they heal from an injury are all opportunities to create stronger connections.

Beginning in March, I’ll be offering classes for two people to take together to learn just how to do that. Lori's Massage Pad is getting a new website! Woo hoo! It's still under construction, so please bear with me (I'm so much better at touching people than I am at touching technology 😉).

At this point you can still schedule through the website and over the next month or so I expect to add all the cool stuff like, fun facts about me and Pam, those frequently asked questions, a blog that I intend (this the operative word) to add to occasionally and the option to buy gift certificates or massage packages online.
