Today's the day of our highly anticipated event!! We have something for everyone with all proceeds going towards our scholarship fundraiser. Our objective is to award multiple scholarships to local graduating seniors pursuing a career in healthcare. Last year, we successfully awarded two $1000 scholarships and are expanding our outreach to additional local schools to recognize even more deserving recipients.

At Milestone Senior Living of Hillsboro, everyone in our care is like family. We know their stories, their hopes, and their dreams. This is what draws us together. Every month, we strive to make a dream come true for at least one resident in our community. Our Dare to Dream recipient for the month of August is Evelyn Erlandson!

Evelyn comes from a musically talented family. In fact, her family started Larryfest - KVAMA which has been held outside of LaFarge since 1998. Larry, whom the music festival is named after, is Eveyln's nephew (the son of her late brother, Virgil Sebranek). It has been many years since Evelyn, who is now 99 years old, has been able to attend this. We surprised her with a Larryfest shirt and swooped her away to listen to her nephew Dan Sebranek and his band play at the fest grounds. She joined other family members in the special VIP section on the stage with the best seat in the house. She sipped on a can of “Sh*tty” beer as the music played and her feet tapped along to the beat. Dan sang Evelyn's favorite song "Early", and as he dedicated the song to her and announced that she was in attendance, the entire crowd cheered and clapped for her. After the show, Dan and his wife Mary joined the rest of the family off stage for a group picture before we headed home.
We want to thank the Tomah Squirrels again for providing the transportation to get us to and from the fest safely. We also want to thank Larry Sebranek for donating tickets to this cause, as well as Dan Sebranek for helping coordinate everything so that the day ran smoothly.
