As a rural hospital, we are designated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital (CAH). As a Critical Access Hospital, Hill Regional serves as the heart of this community’s acute and outpatient health care, as well as providing emergency services. When needed, those living in a rural community such as ours can receive referrals to larger facilities, primary care for injuries and illnesses, and outpatient care for diagnostic lab tests at Critical Access Hospitals. Our hospital has expanded our facility and our services to better serve you. With upgraded equipment, more staff, and a commitment to providing the best healthcare to you, we want you to feel safe when you come here. Many more specialists are now serving Hill County, allowing you to stay home for your care.

Standing Tall Again

A patient came to see me after struggling with constant low back pain that radiated down his right leg. He had already undergone surgery on his right hip, but the pain never truly went away. To help him walk, he had been fitted with shoes that had a permanent lift, and those were the only shoes he could wear.

After a full evaluation, we began treatment focused on realigning his lower back and pelvis. When he got up from the chiropractic table, he paused and said he felt different—relieved, balanced in a way he hadn’t in years. Then he asked, “Do I need to put my lift shoes back on?”

I told him, “No, not yet. Let’s see how your body feels first.”

So, he walked out of the clinic that day in just his socks. From that moment on, he never needed those special shoes again.

Weeks later, he came back to tell me how much better he felt. For the first time in a long while, he could wear any pair of shoes he wanted. His excitement was contagious, and he couldn’t stop smiling.

Moments like that remind me that healing isn’t just about reducing pain—it’s about helping people reclaim the simple joys in life: walking comfortably, moving freely, and living without limits.

"From Walker to Wedding Dance"

When a patient walks into my office using a walker and says, “I was told I have to have back surgery. There’s no other option,” my heart always sinks a little. Not because of the diagnosis, but because so many people believe surgery is their only hope.

One woman came to me just like that—on a walker, discouraged, and afraid. She told me, “I don’t want back surgery.” So, we talked about what was really going on with her spine, and then we set goals. I always ask every patient: What do you want to be able to do again?

Her answer was crystal clear: “I want to walk down the aisle at my son’s wedding in heels. Not wedges. Heels.”

That became our mission. Week after week, we worked on improving her mobility, reducing pain, and strengthening her back. Slowly, she progressed—from using a walker, to walking with support, to walking on her own.

Time passed, and honestly, I’d forgotten about the wedding. Then one day, she came in with a big smile and said, “I have a video to show you.” There she was, walking and dancing in heels at her son’s wedding.

It may not sound like much to someone who’s never faced the prospect of back surgery, but for her, it was everything. She went from being told she’d never walk without pain to celebrating one of the most important days of her life on her own two feet.

Stories like hers remind me why chiropractic care matters. It’s not just popping backs (don't do that by the way) it’s about restoring movement, confidence, and hope. If you’ve been told surgery is your only option, don’t give up. You may still have a path to healing that doesn’t involve the operating room.
