It is with profound appreciation and heartfelt gratitude that my tenure as Activity Director at Wesley House in Gilmer, Texas, comes to a close. I have thoroughly enjoyed every moment spent serving the residents and colleagues alike, fostering an environment of love and care. I extend my sincerest gratitude for the opportunity to grow and learn, discovering depths of love and compassion that I never thought possible. The experience has been reciprocal, and I am grateful that I was allowed to touch the lives of others while having my own life profoundly impacted in return. To my esteemed colleagues, you have been an exemplary team, and your dedication will forever be cherished. Residents at Wesley in Gilmer, Texas, undertook a birdhouse-making project that revealed the intricacies of this seemingly simple task. The challenge lay not only in assembling the birdhouses but also in creatively decorating them. Through this project, we honored our feathered friends and provided them with sustenance. The moment you've all been anticipating has finally arrived: Wesley House in Gilmer, Texas, has hosted its inaugural duck party, featuring a duckling style show where residents showcased their beloved feathered companions. During the event, each resident stood up to introduce their duck, sharing personal anecdotes and experiences, as well as the various places their ducks have been. Notably, the residents' descriptions of their ducks mirrored their own characteristics and self-perceptions. The party's culinary offerings were equally impressive, with a range of sweet treats including duck soufflé, banana pudding, vanilla wafers, and sprinkles, accompanied by savory options like pretzels, cheese, and oranges, all rounded off with a cup of corn. This initiative provides continuous friendship and companionship, supporting our pet therapy program, which recognizes the value of relationships for our residents.
