💛✨Have you felt the shift for yourself yet? The yin season is colder, slower and quieter.

At CENTRE we teach embodiment using TCM and Vedic wisdom, we teach at this time of year to pause, to restore, not rush.

Wherever you are right now, can you take a few breaths and allow yourself to be where your feet are. Take a few breaths to land, before your day starts.

🫁Practice presence with me for just a few moments. Try this breathwork with me -

IN - nose 4
HOLD - 4
OUT - soft pursed lips 6

Take 5 rounds. Reach for this pattern throughout your day, be present, be where your feet are, be with your breath and honor your edges…

As you breathe 🫁 repeat this affirmation in your mind - “Kindness to myself is medicine…”

YIN 5:30PM is going to be special, for yogis practicing at home here are my offerings for your mat time.

📍I invite you to plant a seed with intention in your heart. Choose something small, sincere with structure and steady enough to blossom by the next full moon. perhaps you may want to write it down and place it in a bowl of salt water. We will be doing this in class community together. 💧

💛✨🌑It’s not woo it’s science, biochemistry and TCM. In your flow, reach for cat/cow, legs up the wall, supported fish and supported bridge too as this drains the stagnation from the kidneys and nourishes the lungs . 🧘‍♀️🧘‍♂️

An affirmation to close your practice - I move through life the way I move on the mat, peaceful, open and ready to receive… 💛🧘‍♀️🧘‍♂️🫁

💛✨Yoga off the mat - HUMMING stimulates the vagus nerve which brings balance to your nervous system taking you out of fight and flight and into rest and release.

📍Here is my invitation today, yoga off the mat -

HUM, choose a song, make a hot drink, look out the window and hum the song, every verse and lyric, the way you remember it, take the time…remember why you love the song.

✨Practicing presence, doing one simple thing all the way to the end, this build dopamine in the brain too which is why it feels soooo good!

Now take a deep breath IN - nose 4, OUT - mouth 6. Take 3 rounds.

Now with a balanced nervous system, grounded and connected to yourself plant a seed in your mind and heart…

🌱What do I actually wish my life felt like right now?

Let it wander, not striving, reaching and solving, just dreaming, just witnessing…you are allowed to imagine…

💛✨New moon - new you?

This week we honor new moon. In yoga we honor the moon cycles not as woo woo but as embodiment, our bodies respond to these rhythms, in REAL time.

😌Perhaps you’re influenced by these rhythms but just haven’t noticed?

📍In new moon you may have noticed these shifts within yourself?

💛Your body naturally dips, you feel depleted easier, a yin pause of rest is being asked for
💛The liver and kidney meridians begin to stagnate - abdominal pains, fluid retention, emotional regulation is harder, quicker temper, shorter fuse, fearful anticipatory dreams, stiff and sore lower back
💛Everything feels extra! More heightened senses overall, light, sound, touch, even home can feel too much and overstimulating
💛Your mind feels scattered and it’s hard to remember simple things, you may have even made an error with scheduling this week already?

You are not crazy and it’s not woo woo, it’s what we teach at CENTRE Yoga, it’s embodiment wisdom based on REAL science, biochemistry and mind/body medicine. It’s okay, it’s you living more connected and more grounded into your CENTRE. 💪🏻

📍Here is the good news, here is the fix:

💛Turn inward, book into a yoga class, a sauna, curl up with a book, put on gentle music and BREATHE. Honor your body by honoring the natural rhythm of LESS.

✨ Think of it as your monthly software update, it’s part of the healthy functioning of your hardware.

🧡🖤🧡It has been a BIG week for many in our home town. As always the Hillsboro community support, topper pride and friendship has been STRONG and inspired us all!! So after the week, here is a breathwork sequence for us all to take a moment to pause, process and be present. Please share this post, send it to the people you know need it the most. 💛

✨Breathwork before bed…
Whether you’re out in the world tonight with friends or home snuggled with pets and your own company here is a little reset to reach for BEFORE bed.

It really doesn’t take more than 1 minute to bring a better sleep tonight by preparing and setting the intention. Perhaps start with a hot caffeine free drink then settle in your seat.

🫁Let’s breathe together, first unclench your jaw, drop your shoulders away from your ears and roll your tongue our flat inside your mouth so that it’s low and touching your front bottom teeth softly.

Bring your awareness down to your belly and allow it go soft like a marshmallow. Drop deeper into your seat and sigh out your next exhale.

Let’s start, reset breath IN - nose, OUT - mouth. Now breathe IN - nose 4, OUT mouth 6 from soft pursed lips. Take 5 rounds

Now breathe IN - nose 4, 3 small sips all the way to the top. Now hold, feel the power in the suspension, pelvic lock, ground through the base, hold it, hold it, hold it, 4, 3, 2, 1, HAAAAA out of your mouth. Just like in class, take 2-3 rounds more.

(If this felt a little harder to follow, don’t stress, it’s easy to pick up in just one class at CENTRE, just ask your yogi friends who already come!)

Your nervous system wants a slower life. You don’t have to slow down, being intentional and reaching for regulation through your practice can be life changing!

For those struggling with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, sadness, seasonal depression or simply feeling overwhelmed by the holidays, it could already be feeling like a LOT!
