There has been a lot of debate over the last decade about which form of SPF is best, chemical barrier or physical barrier.

For me I always go for physical barrier, but why?

It is well known that some chemical sunscreens can generate free radicals when they break down and are absorbed into the skin after sun exposure.
Although sunscreen manufacturers often add antioxidant ingredients to combat this, too many antioxidants can also be harmful because they can interfere with the delicate balance of free radicals in the skin.

Another potential drawback of chemical sunscreens: People with sensitive skin may experience an unwanted reaction, like redness or inflammation. Some ingredients could exacerbate skin conditions like rosacea or melasma!
