🗝️Although there is a time & place for prescription medication, it doesn’t resolve or fix the underlying imbalance.

Signs 🪧 of Hormonal Imbalance:

¾ cup water

Midwife BURNOUT is inevitable. I understand this may be an unpopular opinion. I’m kinda full of unpopular opinions 🙃

Internationally, midwives report a 10%-50% rate of burnout and those practicing in the U.S. are in the upper range. I suspect 50% is even low!! What do y’all think?

The #1 way to modulate burnout is to fuel your body with real food. Meal prep like your life depends on it … because it does!

Tips to Support Midwife Sisters:

🗝️ Meal plan & prep
🗝️ Cook in bulk w/ a friend/partner (I’m always game!)
🗝️ Freeze meals
🗝️ Prioritize cooked/warm foods while in clinic or on-call as they are more easily digested
🗝️ Pack healthy emergency snacks to eat on the go
🗝️ Buy a “hot logic mini” for re-heating foods
🗝️ Invest in glass meal prep containers to use in the hot logic

Lacto-fermented foods are essential for colonizing the gut 🦠 microbiome. Other ferments include sauerkraut, pickles, kimchi, yogurt, & kefir.

When our gut microbes are out of balance - that is termed dysbiosis. Dysbiosis can also give rise to bacterial or yeast overgrowth.

Symptoms of gut imbalance (dysbiosis) can include constipation, diarrhea, gas/bloating, heartburn, abdominal pain, & cramping.

My name’s Jewell. I’m a Midwife, Herbalist, & Integrative/Functional Medicine Practitioner in NC.

🗝️ Breathing. The breath is a reminder of being alive. Inhale slowly through your nose to the count of 4 (belly breath), imagine warm air flowing all over your body. Hold to a count of 7. Exhale slowly through the mouth for a count of 8.

🗝️ Handmade herbal pillow to be warmed up w/ “Woodpecker Apothecary” label I love.

🗝️ Hot Tulsi Rose Tea. Holy Basil (ocimum tenuiflorum) has long been used in Ayurveda to lift the spirits and clear the mind.
