As ADHD Awareness Month comes to a close, I’d like to share a short video, “What It’s Really Like To Have ADHD”.
There are still many myths and misunderstandings about ADHD, and too many obstacles to proper diagnosis and treatment. This is especially true for women and for those who have primarily inattentive symptoms.
The truth is that ADHD is a complex brain-based disorder, it can impact every part of a person’s daily functioning, and those with ADHD are more likely to struggle with anxiety and/or depression (especially women).
If you or someone you love has ADHD, or if you wonder if you/they may have ADHD, please seek help from a licensed provider who specializes in ADHD. It can be challenging to tease out the symptoms of ADHD from other conditions, and doctors and therapists have varying degrees of knowledge and experience with ADHD.
I am passionate about helping those with ADHD to understand their disorder, function better, love themselves more, and appreciate all the ways they contribute to the world in a positive way. I’m equally passionate about helping parents understand the same about their children with ADHD!
If you or your child needs help managing school or life challenges, please give me a call. I work primarily with children through young adults, and find it’s often beneficial to involve parents in treatment when appropriate. In some cases, I will also work with adult women with ADHD if this is their primary area of need for therapy.
I hope you find this video helpful! I highly recommend all of the videos and resources shared by Jessica McCabe of How to ADHD, which may be accessed through Facebook or on her YouTube channel, “How to ADHD”.
