Just five months short of her 90th birthday. Edie Karrmann of Washington, NH, passed away February 3, 2026, at the Concord Hospital surrounded by family.

A longtime resident of Washington, she loved the outdoor life, living off grid for many years, raising her own food, canning, and preserving what she grew in her gardens. She and her husband, Ed, took pride in their secluded log home, which they loved to share with friends and family, by hosting an annual pig roast since 1979.

Her greatest joy was working in her flower gardens that surrounded her home. In the winter months, she worked on stained glass which she gave to friends and family. Many of her glass works were donated to support the animal shelter in Claremont, New Hampshire. Some of her work can be seen at “David’s House” at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital in Hanover, New Hampshire, where families are able to stay while undergoing cancer treatment.
Getting together later in life, she married the love of her life, Ed Karrmann. Ed spent a lifelong career in the wire and cable industry, developing and refining micro miniature conductors for the aerospace and medical field applications. Their home in the woods was his escape from his extremely stressful occupation.

Having four of her own, and five stepchildren, 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren, it made for very large get-togethers.

Edie was predeceased by her husband Edward, oldest son Rick of Pine Bush NY, sister Joyce Forgue of Wallingford Ct., brothers Walter Peck, longtime resident and school bus driver in Washington, Robert Peck (Uncle Bob as everyone knew him and his “pretty car “as she called it), and Richard Peck, Who survived the bombings of Pearl Harbor.

She will be dearly missed by all of her friends and family.

Her long time wish for a memorial was a large party with a country band which will be held in September.

In lieu of flowers we will be making a donation to her favorite animal shelter.

Walter “John” Howard Crane, 81, of Hillsboro, NH, passed away peacefully at home on February 23rd, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones, Darline Crane (Wife), Natalie Crane (Daughter), Abigail VonDette (Granddaughter), Mitchell Crane (Son), Adam VonDette, and Kitterhi Durgin.
Walter was born to Roscoe and Katherine Crane of Washington, NH, on August 11th, 1944. Where he grew up on their family farm alongside his siblings, Barbara-Anne Barbee, Nancy Johnson, Sally Fleming, and Richard Crane.
Walter proudly served 4 years in the United States Air Force straight out of high school during the Vietnam War. After this, he spent 25 years serving the community of Hillsboro and Henniker, NH, as the Animal Control Officer. Walter also served as the Water and Sewer Commissioner for Hillsboro, NH.
But most of all, Walter was a Steward of the Land. Walter was a lifelong dairy and beef cattle farmer, which he took much pride in. Walter started his generational farm in 1975 and worked every day for 45 years straight without a day off. Walter’s love of farming kept him working one day at a time. Walter’s strength and hard work allowed him to run a full dairy and beef cattle farm operation by himself. Walter also grew corn, raised livestock, hunted, and maintained his land without ever complaining.
Walter’s legacy lives on in the land he devoted his life to, and will now be preserved by his daughter and carried forward to the next generation, and in the hearts he loved dearly: his daughter, granddaughter, and wife.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in the summer of 2026 at the families convivence.

Norman Kris Stewart, 74, a lifelong resident of Francestown, NH, passed away unexpectedly at his home on February 13, 2026, following a sudden illness.
Kris was born on December 27, 1951, in Nashua, NH, the son of Norman James Stewart and Elizabeth Barnard Kittredge.
As a young child, Kris’s interest in earth-moving equipment was sparked while driving to Florida, watching the interstate highway system being built. He loved sports, participating in basketball, football, baseball, and softball. He was also on the student council and served as class president his junior year.
Kris graduated from Peterborough High School in 1969 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Summa Cum Laude, from New England College in 1973.
During his college years, Kris worked for R.W. Payne, building the Henniker bypass and developing his passion for earth-moving. In 1972, he founded Stewart Construction and purchased his first dozer. When not moving earth, Kris worked at Crotched Mountain Ski Area, maintaining equipment, making snow, and grooming trails. He loved the mountain and everyone and everything that made it special.
Kris’s passion for construction only increased with his first pit purchase in 1984. This led him to establish Francestown Sand & Gravel, Inc. in 1997. In his 50+ years of business, Kris became known for his honesty, integrity, and commitment to excellence. In 1998, his son, Joshua K. Stewart, fulfilled Kris’s dream by joining him as an owner/operator of FS&G.
On the rare occasion that Kris could not be found in his excavator, he was likely cheering on his children or grandchildren at a sports game. He was an avid sports fan and was one of the loudest voices in the crowd.
Kris was passionate about heavy equipment and took great pride in showcasing his fleet of vintage Mack trucks in antique truck shows around New England. He loved attending the local fairs and watching the truck and tractor pulls. He passed on his love for family dinners, storytelling, classic rock, country music, guns, hunting & fishing, Westerns, sports, and classic muscle cars to his children and grandchildren. His sense of humor and ready wit made him the center of attention.
He cherished visiting his daughter Jessy and family in VT, as well as vacationing oceanside. Labor Day was always spent at the red house, building floats and celebrating the town and people he loved. Ever devoted to his community, Kris sought ways to ensure Francestown Labor Day’s success: he founded the annual mud volleyball tournament and sponsored pig scrambles and home run derbies. With a deep love for his country, he always celebrated July 4th at the New Boston parade.
Kris was a member of the Granite State Antique Truck Club, Northeast Rockbusters, New Hampshire Fi****ms Coalition, and GSOWA. He was an avid supporter of the Francestown Fire Department, Tunnel to Towers, Wounded Warriors, and a sponsor of the Cheshire Fair and Hillsborough Agricultural Fair.
Kris was predeceased by his mother, Betty, and his father, Norman. He is survived by his wife, Lisa (Goodwin) Stewart; his children, Joshua Kris Stewart and wife Melissa, Jessica Kittredge (Stewart) Riley and husband Jason; stepson, Robert Podsadowski, and wife, Becky; and stepson, Eric Podsadowski. Kris’s sister, Deborah (Stewart) Adams, and her husband Dave also survive him. Kris, aka “Grampy,” adored his grandchildren: Noah and Grace Stewart, Scarlett Riley, Madison and Ryan Podsadowski, Jacob Ellis, and Adam, Nolan, and Skylar Podsadowski.
A celebration of life for Kris will be held at the Francestown Sand and Gravel Pit, 200 Francestown Road, Bennington, NH, on Saturday, June 20th, at noon.
Donations can be made in memory of Kris N. Stewart to the Francestown Volunteer Fire Dept. Please make checks out to Mount Crotchet Firefighters Association. PO Box 221, Francestown, NH 03043.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home. www.holtwoodburyfh.com.

Elizabeth Ottens 82, of Hillsborough NH, passed unexpectedly on February 3, 2026.
Elizabeth who many referred to as Bettye or Betty Boop was born December 7, 1943 in Dover NH and was raised in Hillsborough NH by parents Dorothy M. Jordan who passed in 2008 and Harry Jordan Sr. who passed in 1987.
Elizabeth grew up and resided most of her life in Hillsborough NH as well as residing in Deering and Washington NH.
She grew up alongside her two siblings Harry Jordan of Arkansas born January 15 and sister Lynn Hauser also of Hillsborough NH who was born July 31, who passed suddenly at her home in 2012. Elizabeth is also predeceased by another sibling Phyliss Jordan of Hillsborough NH who unexpectedly passed as an adolescent.
Elizabeth grew up alongside her siblings in Hillsborough NH where she spent her teenage years making friends and enjoying cheerleading. She spent her early adult years waitressing until she reached adulthood where she met Kenneth Wiley of Strafford NH at Data General where they later married and had two beautiful children of their own. Jennifer Wiley Clough born January 17, 1971 and Daveen Elizabeth Lloyd born February 11, 1974.
Elizabeth while raising her two daughters also worked full time for a majority of her life at locations in Hillsborough know as: The Legion and The Moose where she bartended for nearly four decades. She was known by all who worked and associated there as Betty Boop, her favorite cartoon character who she loved and collected lots of memorabilia of. She also was employed at Sylvania of Hillsborough NH where she retired at the age of 65. But as all of us who know her knew even after retirement she couldn’t stop working. She went back to work and continued bartending even in her eighties, which to all is incredibly admirable and shows just how committed she was to her job, her friends, and her community.
As much as she loved her job and her friends, nothing was more important to her than family and companionship. She settled down and raised her family for roughly thirteen years alongside her former husband Horst Ottens who passed in 1998.
She then later in life met her best friend, her partner in crime, and longtime companion Fred Kulbacki, also known as Uncle Bud to many. They met at her work and spent quite a lot of time there making memories together alongside their closest friends where the two of them were inseparable up until his passing in 2017.
Her favorite joys alongside being a spouse and mother was also becoming a grandmother to Charles Davis of Washington NH, Kyra Lloyd of Antrim, Daniel Clough and Matthew Clough of Hillsborough NH. Nothing brought her more joy than her grandbabies! Fast forward to the year 2018 where she experienced the great joy of becoming a great grandmother to three beautiful grandchildren: Archer Jones born in 2018, Kimberly Jones born 2020 and Austin Jones born in 2024 by parents Kyra Lloyd and fiancée Andrew Jones.
She loved treating her grand-babies to trips to Manahan to soak up the sun and splash in the water, grabbing crab rangoons at the local Chinese restaurant and treating her great grand-babies to memories and Knick knacks and lots of laugh and love.
She spent the last few years cherishing all life had to give her by spending it with friends and family soaking up laughter and smiles. She spent it watching her oldest daughter Jennifer alongside her husband Ted Clough raise their beautiful blended family of 6; Nicole Gugliotti, Samantha Hardwick, James Clough, Charles Davis, Daniel and Matthew Clough as well as seeing her youngest daughter Daveen Lloyd meet her soulmate, Nicholas Valliancourt. She got to watch her children grow up, get married and meet their soulmates, buy forever homes and have a family of their own. She witnessed her daughter’s become grandparents to their grand babies (12 total) what a beautiful thing. She spent her years being so proud and honored being a mother, a sister, an aunt and truthfully everyone’s best friend! She loved everyone she met as if they were her own and welcomed each and everyone with open arms and a tremendously large smile! She had the most contagious laugh and the best smile and always knew how to get jiggy with it as she said and bust a move. She loved her cats, her music and a good time. She never met a person she didn’t enjoy talking to or spending time with. She was known as being the sweetest, hippest and most loving woman to exist in the Hillsborough NH community and even surrounding areas. She was incredibly bubbly and known as a social butterfly to all. She loved to laugh and always knew how to get you join in too. To have known her was the greatest blessing life could give and to be loved by her was the greatest privilege to be had. She was the best friend one could have and to of known her so was an honor and an ultimate blessing.
Calling hours will be held Saturday February 28th from 10 am to 12 pm at Holt-Woodbury Funeral Homes in Hillsborough NH with a celebration to follow from 12 pm to 4 pm at the Moose in Hillsborough NH.
In lieu of flowers the family asks to make all donations to the Hillsborough Fire and Rescue of Hillsborough NH, 13 Central St. P.O. Box 7 Hillsboro, NH 03244.

Heather Christine Marino, 86, of Henniker, NH passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026 after battling a long illness. Her children and extended family had precious moments with her during her final days.

Heather was born on March 17, 1939 in Malden, MA. She grew up in Malden with her late stepfather and mother Arnold and Florence Swanson and brother, Richard Hook of Hudson, NH. Heather attended Eastern Nazarene College where she studied music. Heather’s primary career was working as a licensed director of the preschool at Malden Church of the Nazarene for many years. She enjoyed working with the children there and had many fond memories. After Heather retired as the director, she relocated to Henniker, NH where she had spent most summers as a child. There, she worked part-time at White Birch Community Center. She became very involved with the activities and community there. Heather enjoyed going to the “Bone Builders” classes and being a part of the “Knit Wits” knitting club. She made many good friends in Henniker.

Heather loved working in her gardens. She created immaculate flower beds both in Malden and Henniker. She took pride in the vegetables she grew and was happy to have the space for some fruit trees. She could keep almost anything blooming for an extended period of time! Heather also enjoyed cooking and baking. She often jotted down a new recipe to try and was always ready with a bundt birthday cake to celebrate the next family birthday.

What Heather loved most was her children and grandchildren. She was so proud of her boys Christopher Alan of Bedford, MA and Gregory Arnold of Weymouth, MA and their wives Kimberly and Laura. There wasn’t a phone call or visit that went by where she didn’t ask about her grandchildren, Isabelle (26), Hunter (24), Mallory (22), James (20) and Anderson (18). She bragged about them every chance that she could get and was always so excited to see them or hear from them. Heather will be deeply missed and forever loved.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 11AM at Journey Church in Derry, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to Live and Let Live Farm’s Rescue and Sanctuary (https://www.liveandletlivefarm.org) to honor Heather’s love for animals.

Barbara Ann Scarpino passed away at the age of 75 on Sunday, January 11, 2026, with her
husband of 51 years by her side.
Barbara was born November 6, 1950, in Queens, NY to Eugene and Aune Laine. The family
lived in the Metro New York area until moving to northeastern Connecticut.
Barbara graduated from Killingly High School in Danielson and then, Cum Laude, from
(what was) Eastern Connecticut State College in 1974. While in college, she met her future
husband, Paul, and they married soon after graduation, on June 8, 1974.
They first resided in Waterbury Connecticut, where, in 1976, their son Christopher was
born. A year later, they moved to New Hampshire and welcomed their daughter, Kathryn.
Barbara stayed at home with her children until they were in elementary school. She and
Paul purchased land in Sutton and, there, built the house where they would raise their
children and where Barbara would spend the rest of her days.
The children in school, Barbara began her career in the office of Warner Wood Products,
and then went to Bank East, where she worked her way up to Co-branch Manager. She
would often say that one of her favorite roles in that position was helping people in the
community.
Following the closure of the branch, she went to work in the HR department of Warner
Power, eventually assuming the role of HR Manager, where she again took great fulfillment
in helping people with unique problems to find solutions. Barbara also found joy in
volunteering for various organizations in the greater Warner area, especially at the annual
Warner Fall Foliage Festival, as an ESL tutor for immigrant families, and at the Kearsarge
Regional High School Drama club, where, for many years, she lovingly made costumes for
the Fall and Spring plays.
Barbara was an avid reader and loved to both sew and cross stitch. She also found great joy
in cooking for family and friends—a favorite of hers was to have all the children come to the
house for chicken stew and dumplings after the Warner Fall Foliage Parade. Another, more
recent, favorite was traveling to Vermont to attend the annual family summer picnic.
Having others around her, especially family, was a very special joy that Barbara treasured.
Barbara passed away due to complications resulting from a serious stroke suffered August
of 2015. She is survived by her husband Paul, daughter Kate Blish, son in law Spencer
Blish, her treasured granddaughter Isla, sister Liisa Laine and her partner Glenn Casavant,
brother Robert Laine and his wife Mary, brother Raymond Laine, brother and sister in laws
Ralph and Shirely Scarpino, Phil and Ginny Scarpino, as well as her many nieces, nephews,
and great nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her parents, Aune and Eugene
Laine, her in-laws Vincent and Pearl Scarpino and her beloved son, Christopher.
The family wishes to thank the Granite VNA, for all their support and help caring for
Barbara, as well as the Sutton Fire department ambulance service. Arrangements were
entrusted to the Holt-Woodbury funeral home in Hillsboro, NH and a private family
gathering to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held at a later date. To leave a message of

David A. Edwards, 69 of Contoocook, NH, passed away sleeping peacefully in the early morning hours of February 4, 2026 at the Hospice House in Concord, NH.
David lived in Contoocook his entire life, attending Hopkinton schools. He worked in maintenance positions at several companies within the same building in Contoocook beginning with Converse Rubber in 1976 until his retirement from McLane’s in 2021.
David had a lifetime love of snowmobiling and was a long-time member of the Contoocook Snomads. He also had a love of NASCAR and was proudly “the boss” of a mini-stock car racing team #88 Cayer Racing with his son Scott and his “other son” Emerson. They enjoyed traveling the east coast for many years. In the last couple of years, he was again able to enjoy the dirt bike tracks watching Scott race with “the older guys” now. This last summer he was able to watch the races from the comfort of a camper – a true blessing.
Spending time with his family and friends was a very important part of the past few years for David. If you knew him, you know that he lived life on his own terms and he would drop anything and everything to help anyone in need. He will be deeply missed by many.
David was predeceased by his parents, Orville and Priscilla Edwards, and his sister, Deborah Edwards Emerson. He is survived by his son, Scott Edwards, his former wife and good friend, Sheila MacLean Edwards, his sister Dodie and her husband, David Smith, and his brother Dwain Edwards and his wife, Kelly Smith. He also left behind his beloved Dixie the dog and Kiki the cat who miss him terribly.
At David’s request there will be no formal Funeral services or burial, but a gathering of family and friends. All of who are invited to attend a Celebration of life to be held at the American Legion, Post 81, Contoocook, NH on Saturday, March 7th from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. Bring some funny memories and stories to share if you have them.
Donations can be made in David’s name to the most wonderful Granite VNA Hospice Program, 30 Pillsbury Street Concord, NH 03301.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home. www.holtwoodburyfh.com.
