Moms are carrying the weight of so many things on their shoulders without anyone else even knowing. Some days the idea of packing the diaper bag, finding toys for the kids to play with, packing snacks, and loading the car just seems like the most overwhelming task. How do you cope?

Sometimes this means asking for help, taking the time to explain to your partner or family why things feel like such a burden to you. Sometimes this means saying no and making the decision to stay home and take care of your mental health. Sometimes it is readjusting your goals and expectations and accepting this is a time of life where it is impossible to do everything and please everyone.

Sometimes it means talking to a mental health professional who can help you to look at your options specifically for you and your life situation and develop a plan for self care and recovery. Help is available.

High functioning depression and anxiety is when you are still able to maintain your daily responsibilities, work, and relationships without appearing outwardly distressed.

You wear the "mask" well and it makes it hard for others to see that you are struggling. Even though you tell family and friends you are not okay you seem "fine".
