Hillsville Fire Department The Hillsville Fire Department is a Volunteer Department with approximately 50 active and organizational members and run approximately 500 calls a year.

The department operates out of three Stations.

The Hillsville Fire Department would like to wish one of its longest serving members a Happy 87th Birthday, Life member and Firefighter Erroll Rhea Jett. Erroll Rhea has been a member of the Hillsville Fire Department and served our community for 60 years. During his many years of dedicated service Erroll Rhea has served not only as a firefighter but also has held various administrative responsibilities. Erroll Rhea has witnessed the many changes to the fire service over his many years of service. Happy Birthday Erroll Rhea, you make 87 look great brother. Thank you for your many years of dedication and service to our community.

Congratulations to Adjunct Instructor Jeff Kimble on receiving a Special Service Award at this year’s Fire Department Instructors Conference in Indianapolis.

With more than 40 years of service in the fire and rescue community, Kimble has dedicated his career to training, leadership, and volunteer service through the Virginia Department of Fire Programs and Laurel Fork Volunteer Fire Department.

Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!

Isolated showers are possible today. A warming trend will occur by Tuesday with a breezy southwest wind. Then, a cold front should arrive to bring a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the mountains on Wednesday and in the Piedmont by Thursday. Cooler air returns on Friday.
