Hillsville Fire Department The Hillsville Fire Department is a Volunteer Department with approximately 50 active and organizational members and run approximately 500 calls a year.

On 4/5/26 at 1529 Hillsville Fire responded to I-77 south at the 18.1 mile marker for a single vehicle crash. Command 1 arrived to find one van on its side, appearing to have rolled several times. The driver had self extricated prior to our arrival. The patient was taken to a local hospital by CCFR with NLT injuries. Squad 1, Rescue 1, and Engine 2 mitigated hazards and the scene was turned over to VSP for investigation.

On 3/28/26 at 1441 Hillsville Fire responded to the 1400 block of Oak Grove Rd for a two vehicle crash. Command arrived to find a two car head on style collision. Squad 1 arrived and one patient was extricated from the vehicle. CCFR requested Air Transport and AirCare landed at the Twin County Airport to meet medics. Another patient was taken to a local hospital by ground. Crews cleaned debris and mitigated hazards. The scene was turned over to VSP for investigation. Also assisting on scene was CCSO.

The Hillsville Fire Department would like to wish one of its own a Happy Belated Birthday, Firefighter Andy Utt. Andy has been a dedicated member for over twenty years. During so Andy has held many different administrative and line officer positions to include Lieutenant, Captain, Assistant Chief, and Chief. Andy continues to be a dedicated member serving the citizens of Carroll County. Happy Birthday Andy and thank you for the continued dedication to the department and the community.

On 3/22/26 at 1408 Hillsville Fire responded to the 2500 block of Little Vine Rd for a reported camper on fire. Squad 1 with 5 arrived to find one camper fully involved and had collapsed, threatening another camper. One attack line was placed in service and the fire was quickly contained and extinguished, with no extension. No injuries were reported and the scene was turned over to VSP and VA Fire Marshall’s Office. Also operating on scene was Engine 4, Tanker 3, Rescue 1, Rescue 2, and CCFR. Barren Springs Fire was responding but canceled en route. As always we appreciate our mutual aid partners!

The snow storm this morning posed a very busy day for Hillsville Fire, answering 12 calls for service since 8 o’clock. 10 motor vehicle accidents, a medical assist, and a small brush fire were all covered by Hillsville Volunteers.

Hillsville Fire was dispatched at 1233 to I-77 South at the 15 mile marker to the accident below. Command 1 arrived to find a single vehicle off the roadway, on its top. The driver had self extricated prior to arrival and was not complaining of any injuries. Hazards were mitigated by Attack 3 and Squad 1. All units returned to service and the scene was turned over to VSP. Also operating on scene was CCFR.
