Hillsville Fire Department

Hillsville Fire Department The Hillsville Fire Department is a Volunteer Department with approximately 50 active and organizational members and run approximately 500 calls a year.

The department operates out of three Fire Stations.

We are proud to serve the citizens of Carroll County and the Town of Hillsville.

Hillsville Firefighters Anthony Marshall and Mark Nygard participated in the 9/11 stairclimb in Roanoke Virginia. We would like to thank the community for there support. We will never forget and always remember the fallen who made the ultimate sacrifice on 9/11/2001.

2977 innocent victims, 343 fire fighters, 60 law enforcement officers, 8 EMT/Paramedics. Let us not forget these numbers tomorrow, today, or ever. May god be with the families of those that gave all on that sad day and let us remember how we came together following those attacks on America. We will never forget.

On 8/28/25 at 0610 Hillsville Fire was dispatched to Myersโ€™ Sawmill at 454 Pine Grove Rd for a structure fire. Command 1 arrived to find a large shed and a large piece of equipment on fire with several exposures. Squad 1 arrived and deployed two attack lines to bring the fire under control. Fire units operated on scene for approximately 3 hours with the help of Barren Springs Fire Dept and Carroll Fire Rescue. The scene was turned over to VSP and the Va State Fire Marshallโ€™s Office.

On 8/24/25 at 0608 Hillsville Fire was dispatched to I-77 North at the 9.1 mile marker for a tractor trailer on fire. Squad 1 arrived to find heavy fire showing from the trailer and the semi safely unhooked. Squad 1 deployed one attack line and brought the fire under control shortly after. No injuries were reported and the scene was turned over to VSP and Emergency Management. Also assisting on scene was CCFR and VDOT.

On 8/18/25 at 1303 Hillsville Fire was dispatched to the intersection of Carrollton Pike and Woodlawn Rd for a motor vehicle accident. Engine 3 arrived to find a two vehicle head on style collision with heavy damage. All occupants had self extricated but had numerous injuries. PGRS and CCFR arrived and called for two medical helicopters. Two patients were flown to trauma centers for their injuries while another was transported by ground. After extensive cleanup and mitigating fluids all fire units cleared. VSP is investigating the crash.
