On 11/16/25 at 2338 Hillsville Fire was dispatched to the intersection of Carrollton Pike and I-77 for a two vehicle accident. Units arrived to find a two vehicle rear end style collision with heavy damage. All occupants were out upon arrival. CCFR transported one patient to a local hospital with minor injuries. Units mitigated all hazards HPD was on scene and is investigating the crash.

THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON DUE TO WINDY CONDITIONS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR PARTS OF NORTH CAROLINA AND VIRGINIA...

* WINDS...Northwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 22 percent.

* TEMPERATURES...Up to 66.

* LIGHTNING...None.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds, dry fuels, and low relative humidity values will lead to prime conditions for wildfires to spread across portions of the area on Sunday.

On 11/14/25 at 1736 Hillsville Fire was dispatched to Cavalier Dr near the intersection of Freemont Rd for a brush fire. Units arrived to find a control burn that had gotten out of control. It was determined that approximately 4 acres were involved. Mutual aid was requested, bringing Laurel Fork Fire, Galax Fire, and Va Dept of Forestry to the scene. Barren Springs Fire was requested to backfill Hillsville Station 1. All departments worked tirelessly for several hours cutting hand lines to get this difficult fire contained. Huge thanks to all of our mutual aid partners for the help. Also on scene was CCFR and CCSO.
