As the Big Island’s leading provider of inpatient and outpatient care, Hilo Medical Center delivers a full range of services and programs on our 20-acre campus. Hilo Medical Center is licensed for 157 beds for acute care and 35 beds for long-term care. We have 1,100 employees and a medical staff comprised 250 community physicians, physician assistants and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, representing 33 specialties. As a medical center, we have a network of 9 outpatient clinics offering primary and specialty care. The hospital is a Level III Trauma Center which includes the second busiest emergency room in the state that provides 24-hour care to more than 49,000 patients annually. Hilo Medical Center has been nationally recognized for exceptional care as a “Top Performing” hospital. CMS ranked HMC 4 stars for Overall Quality, putting HMC among the top 20% of hospitals in the nation, the top 5 hospitals in the state and the only 4-star ranked hospital on Hawaii Island. HMC’s HealthConnect attained the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) Meaningful Use Stage 2 in 2014. In addition, the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) recognized HMC for achieving Stage 7 on the EMR Adoption ModelSM. Hilo Medical Center also earned the HIMSS Nicholas E. Davis Award for the utilization and demonstration of its electronic medical records system. Starting Friday, October 24, the walkway in front of the Medical Office Building 3 (MOB3) will be open to the public and serve as the main access to Medical Office Buildings 1 & 2.
Due to the ongoing construction and exterior improvements in Medical Office Building 3, the access to the back of the building of MOB 1 & 2 will be closed starting Saturday, October 25. To ensure safety measures during this period, adjustments will be made to the construction fence line, along with the placement of additional signage, cones and restriping the existing lines and parking stalls. Also, the construction fence line will extend beyond the covered walkway to facilitate the construction of the new parking lot, concrete sidewalks, stairs and landscaping as part of MOB3. THE EPIC MYCHART DREAM TEAM! Today we sent MyChart Ambassador and Epic FRIENDS to the Akamai Health Fair at the Edith Kanakaole Tennis Stadium to help register kupuna for their new patient portal. Some already had MyChart from another hospital or clinic so we helped them link to our Epic electronic health records system. If you haven't done so yet, please download MyChart and register to gain access to our new patient portal so you'll be ready to go on November 1 when we go live! Access your appointments, imaging, labs and medication refills, pay your bills and more! Mahalo to everyone for dropping by to sign up for MyChart!
