Registration For 12 Community Food Distribution Sites Open Across Hawaiʻi Island Through Aloha In Action Response

Hawaiʻi Island – With the temporary pause of SNAP benefits beginning November 1 and the ongoing federal government shutdown creating uncertainty for local families, communities across Hawaiʻi Island are moving quickly to meet the urgent needs of their neighbors.

Through Aloha In Action, Vibrant Hawaiʻi’s islandwide emergency response effort, 12 community food distribution sites are being activated to ensure residents continue to have access to essential food resources.

With generous support from friends and neighbors in the Kūkiʻo, Kohala Coast, and Waimea communities, along with many others across the island, state, and nation, early efforts will focus on underserved areas where families may feel the greatest impact of this disruption, including North Hawaiʻi, the Hāmākua Coast, and Puna Mauka. Each distribution will include locally sourced produce, proteins, and shelf-stable food, supporting an estimated 1,800 residents during the first three weeks of November.

For residents in other areas of the island, The Hawaiʻi Island Food Basket will conduct ʻOhana Food Drops in Hilo, Pāhoa, Nāʻālehu, Kona, and Waimea. For more information, visit www.hawaiifoodbasket.org.

Registration for the Vibrant Hawaiʻi Aloha In Action distribution opens Thursday, October 30 at 4:00 PM. For registration details, please visit vibranthawaii.org/alohainaction. This project prioritizes households whose SNAP benefits have been paused and federal employees impacted by the government shutdown. Proof of eligibility is required.

Fresh produce and canned good donations are welcome at each distribution site. Visit vibranthawaii.org/alohainaction to see when your local site is accepting donations. Canned goods can also be dropped off at American Savings Bank branches in Hilo, Waimea, and Kailua-Kona to support islandwide distribution efforts.

While coordination is underway, this response depends on community kōkua. Donations are urgently needed to sustain efforts and ensure support reaches those most affected. Every contribution helps.

Well, this beautiful grande dame now belongs to someone else. May she be loved and well cared for. I feel blessed for each and every person that walked these floors. Grateful for the opportunity to serve a community I love. Blessed with so much abundance and love. A little sad, but happy. Content to know that it truly is time. Mahalo, Komohana.

Oakworks Hydraulic Massage Table - 15 years old, used every week in active practice - always covered and kept indoors. Works great! Has double door cabinet underneath for storage. There is a power strip inside for easy use of electronic devices. Has slight rust on legs. Has slight crazing in the vinyl - but it is not torn. I have always used a mattress protector and sheets. Comes with headrest cradle, cradle pillow, a buckwheat roll and the bolster, as well as a twin mattress protector. Paid over $5k originally. Asking $1k. You pick up.

Exquisite Hand-Carved Antique Chinese Cabinet Chest

Lovely, interesting and very useful antique chest. It's just the right height to go under a window and it has loads of storage. Strong and well built - in really great shape for a piece that is at least 100 years old.

There are three separate storage/cabinet areas accessed via 6 Doors (2 per area), 4 Large Drawers and 2 Smaller Drawers. Hand-carved, painted and lacquered. Appears to have all original hardware. One of my favorite pieces.

6 ½’ wide
34” high to top of finial
29.5” high to top surface of chest
14” deep

$1200

Pain travels through families until someone is ready to feel it.

For many of us, our generational curse is avoidance. We come from people who just act like it didn't happen.

But pain demands to be felt.

And somewhere along the line, a child will be born whose charge it is to feel it all. These are your shamans, your priests and priestesses, your healers.

You call them mental health patients and label their power as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and the like. But these are the ones who are born with the gift of feeling.

And as we all know, you can't heal the pain that you refuse to feel.
