If people can pause hostilities, they possess the capacity for enduring peace. Consider the 1914 Christmas Truce, where British, German, and French soldiers spontaneously initiated a ceasefire from December 24-26, coming together in no man’s land to share food, song, and soccer. If they could do it for a few days, they could do it always. The powers that prevent this are the problem. Coming together as a global family, in peaceful diplomacy, is the solution.

Silent Night, Holy Truce

In the trenches of war, a stillness descends,
As carols drift across no man’s land,
Enemies pause, their weapons at rest,
A fleeting peace, a Christmas behest.
Soldiers emerge from muddy confines,
Germans and Allies cross battle lines,
Sharing stories, ci******es, and song,
A moment of unity, where all belong.
In this brief respite from death's embrace,
We glimpse our shared humanity’s face,
A global family, divided no more,
Finding common ground on a war-torn shore.
Oh, how the world yearns for such grace,
To lay down arms, conflicts to erase,
If only we could hold the sacred truce,
And let peaceful diplomacy loose.
As dawn breaks on this Christmas morn,
We part as friends, though uniforms worn,
A memory etched, hope still bright,
That peace may triumph over might.

Aloha! On this day set aside to recognize mothers and mother figures in our lives, I am eager to share a little about mine!

Many don’t have much but pain, confusion, or heartbreak to remember about their mothers, and for those, my heart is with you, and I hope you had a loving mother figure or the presence of a guiding spiritual light to help you through.

Georgia Marie Norris Swigart, my divine mother, is the finest woman I have ever known. Mom is, and will always be, a guiding light in the darkness of this world. It would be pretty hard for me to express, in prosaic form, my love, devotion, and appreciation for my Mom; so, instead, I’d like to share a poem and a song.

She is sunshine through a dusty window pane.
She is a lighthouse in the darkness of my fear and desperation.
She is a daisy in the sweetened springtime rain.
She is band aids, hugs, and kisses after falling.
