Day 366
Yesterday was the one year anniversary of Ryan suffering a traumatic brain injury. Sometimes it feels like just yesterday, other times it feels like forever ago. Its been a long road watching him “wake up” and get his personality back. All of the doctors and nurses told us it would be a marathon, not a sprint, and it sure has been. We cant thank everyone enough for your thoughts and prayers over the past year, it has meant the world to us and got us through the hard days. Thank you to all of his doctors, nurses and therapists at Strong Memorial hospital and the Golisano Neurology rehab at Unity, we are forever grateful for all of you.

Hi everyone, it’s Ryan.. Its been a while since the last post, so i thought I would give an update. I’m still going to therapy three times a week , and am also back to going to the gym everyday. I haven’t been approved to go back to work or drive yet though, i go back to the doctor next month, so I’m hoping for some good news about that! We were finally able to have a welcome home/graduation party on Sunday, it was great to see family and friends , here are some pics from the party. Thanks for your continued thoughts!

Day 69
Ryan had a great week! He has been continuing his therapy and improving every day. Friday (September 2nd) we went to Area 51 for the CanAm and camped. Ryan was so excited to see his buddies. a local pro, gave him a T-shirt and even signed it! Ryan also rode a bicycle for the first time since his accident and he took right off 😂 We watched the pit bike race, had s’mores at the fire, and enjoyed being at the track again. Saturday was the first set of races. Ryan cheered on his friends, rode the pit bike with dad, relaxed, and played with the best pup, Bella! Sunday afternoon he went to a labor day picnic at the lake and got to see a lot of the family. Ryan will continue his therapy, speech and physical, 3 times a week. He is gaining every single day. We cannot thank you enough for all of your support!

Ryan has had a good first week at home! He started therapy on Monday and will go 3-4 times a week. We were able to get together with the Mowry’s for dinner after they moved Samantha in to her apartment at college. Mom and dad took him fishing at the canal, he didn’t catch anything, but he remembered how to cast his pole! 🤣 On the way home from fishing, they stopped The owner recognized Ryan and said she had been following along with his story, and was glad to see him, she said their ice cream was on her! If you’re in the area, be sure to check them out, great ice cream and fantastic service! Our dad took him to the track yesterday at Pavilion and he was able to see some old friends! We will be at Area 51 for the can-am so make sure to say hi to Ryan. Thanks for your continued thoughts and prayers!

He’s home! Day 52 on Friday Ryan came home late morning. My parents kept the secret and surprised me when I got home:) Today (Sunday) we went to surprise our grandma! The hospital let Ryan go a whole week early, we want to thank all of the doctors and nurses at Golisano Restorative Neurology & Rehab center at Unity hospital for helping him and playing a crucial part in his recovery. Ryan still has a lot of work to do such as gaining 30 pounds of his weight back, working on muscle and short term memory and also his speech. He will continue with outpatient therapy about 3 times a week. Thank you to everyone for all the cards, messages, and help to our family it means so much to us and Ryan. He wouldn’t be where he is today without all the support from everybody. After 7 and a half long weeks Ryan is stoked to be home and be able to sleep in his own bed.

Day 47. Better. Every. Day. This kid has made some serious progress within the last couple weeks. He is noticeably happier everyday, he eats all of his jose joes cheeseburgers🤣 flexes his muscles like a hot shot 💪 and has been working on writing legibly with both hands. He likes watching his favorite show Trailer Park Boys and going outside for some fresh air. Everyone is very happy with his progress and hopefully he will be released within the next week. He even sang the whole happy birthday song to me on my 21st, which was the best present I could ever ask for! Thank you to everyone for the continued support, he knows everyone is rooting for him and he appreciates all the love❤️❤️

Day 40! Ryan is getting back to being himself. Talking, walking, using the bathroom and eating good food is what he’s been working on this week. We have a good feeling he will be out of here a week early then expected. He is working hard in therapy everyday and cant wait to get home. He wanted to say thanks to everyone for the support and the prayers, it has gone a long way and he isn’t done yet!!!
