Fraser Counseling Center

Fraser Counseling Center The Fraser Center exists to enrich the lives of all who come to us -individuals and families, milita in memory of his late wife, Mary Lou.

The Fraser Center is a non-profit, non-denominational, faith-based counseling center that offers behavioral health services and education for individuals, families, and community organizations. The center was established in 1986 and was the dream of local physician, Dr. Whit Fraser, who was a pioneer in holistic health care for Liberty county. Dr. Fraser believed in affordable, whole-person care for all, regardless of social standing, race, gender, or ability to pay. To that end, he established the Mary Lou Fraser Foundation for Families, Inc. The Fraser Center and the Liberty County YMCA are the present-day manifestations of Dr. Fraser's vision. The Fraser Center staff is a team of multi-disciplinary mental health professionals and educators who offer complete and confidential counseling, psychotherapy, and educational services in mental health, substance abuse, and marital and family areas. The staff includes Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Professional Counselors, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, Pastoral Counselors, and Psychiatrists. This variety of specialists allows staff to address many diverse needs of individuals, couples, children, and families.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month

asks you to take responsibility for safe kids. Look for the signs of child abuse, and learn what it takes to make the report. Whether you're a teacher, doctor, family member, counselor, coach, or just a friend, you can't depend on anyone else to do something about what might be happening. Suspect child abuse? Don't for a second think this is none of your business.

Breath of God Chapter Seven

Hello Readers, I was derailed from continuing to write about the Spiritual Journey with my sister in June 2023 when my husband’s health declined significantly. I spent the remainder of 2023 restructuring my life to be more present to my husband. Just as I was beginning to establish a rhythm that was working for both of us under the new circumstances, my son-in-law, Andrew Ward, died on the anniversary of my sister’s death, St Patrick’s Day…. March 17, 2024.

After that, 2024 was an emotional blur to me. All I could do most days was to focus on the next step of getting through each day. Then in October, my husband was hospitalized 20 days for a very serious respiratory illness and then again 15 days of November. I truly believed he would not live to see the New Year.

However, God is always full of surprises. During the month of January 2025 my husband regained his strength and when February arrived, I felt I could again begin to write. Chapter Seven begins our journey into Chemo with Gwynn….exactly one year from the day she would transition into her eternal life. Although the enemy pulled out all the stops to frighten us and throw us into despair in this season of Gwynn’s life, he did not succeed. God, instead, demonstrated that His Thoughts are greater than our thoughts and His Ways are higher than ours ways (Isaiah 55: 8-9). March 17, 2016 to March 17, 2017 was a year of miracles!
