What drained me today vs. what filled me up…. 💚

Sometimes we move through the day so fast, we don’t stop to notice what’s actually affecting us.

✨What drained me today:
– Overthinking things I can’t control
– Giving my energy to things that don’t pour back into me
– Not taking enough time to pause and breathe

✨What filled me up:
– A moment of quiet
– Checking in with myself honestly
– Choosing peace over pressure

Healing starts with awareness. When you recognize what drains you, you can begin to protect your energy and lean into what restores you.

Tonight, take a moment for yourself…
Ask yourself: What took from me today? And what gave back?

Let us know one thing that filled your cup today.

This picture represents what so many carry in silence. The financial pressure, silent anxiety, everyone else’s problems, and the expectation to never break. Being the “strong one” is heavy; and too many of us are carrying it alone.

Join us at Black Mental Wellness Day on Saturday, February 28th as we unpack the mental load and create space for honest conversation, support, and healing.

Register today and show up for yourself. Strength deserves support.

How to Talk to Children About Feelings 💚

Children don’t automatically know how to explain what’s happening inside of them.
They feel big emotions — but they don’t always have the words.

Here are simple ways to help:

1. Name the feeling for them.
“It looks like you’re feeling frustrated.”
Giving language helps them understand themselves.

2. Listen without correcting immediately.
Resist the urge to say, “You’re fine.”
Instead try, “Tell me what happened.”

3. Normalize emotions.
“It’s okay to feel angry. It’s not okay to hurt people.”
Separate the feeling from the behavior.

4. Share your feelings too (age appropriate).
“When I’m overwhelmed, I take deep breaths.”
Modeling emotional regulation teaches more than lectures.

5. Create safe check-in moments.
Car rides. Bedtime. After school.
Sometimes kids open up when there’s no pressure.

When children learn that their feelings are safe,
they grow into adults who know how to express them.

Let’s raise emotionally healthy generations one conversation at a time.

Let’s talk about emotional suppression. Emotional suppression is when you push your feelings down instead of processing them. You tell yourself you’re “fine” even when you’re overwhelmed, hurt, angry, or exhausted. It’s smiling in public but crying in private. It’s staying silent to avoid conflict.
It’s being the “strong one” for everyone else.

💭 Signs you may be holding things in:
• You struggle to express how you really feel
• You avoid difficult conversations
• You feel numb or disconnected
• You overwork, oversleep, or overeat to cope
• You get irritated over small things
• You feel emotionally exhausted but don’t know why
Suppressing emotions doesn’t make them disappear it just stores them in the body.

Healing starts when you allow yourself to feel without guilt or shame.

You deserve safe spaces. You deserve to release. You deserve peace. 💚
