Some words make space for healing.

“I am sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you. I love you.”

A quiet rhythm you can return to when your heart feels heavy or your thoughts won’t settle. Not to fix everything at once, but to soften what’s tight inside.

At River & Stone, we hold space for this kind of gentle work. A place to slow down, to notice what’s stirring, and to begin again with compassion toward yourself. You don’t have to carry it all alone.

“I’ll feel better when things calm down.”

It’s a tempting thought—but that calm season rarely comes. Life just changes shape. Peace isn’t something you wait for. It’s something you learn to carry, even here.

At River & Stone, we help you build that steadiness from within. Through simple structure, small habits, and deeper awareness, you can begin to feel grounded again—even in the middle of the mess.

You don’t have to wait to feel like yourself again.

Boundaries aren’t walls—they’re clarity.

They help you protect your energy, honor your needs, and show up more fully in the relationships that matter.

At River & Stone, we help you understand what your nervous system is asking for—and how to respond in a way that feels steady, not stretched thin. Because peace doesn’t come from doing more, it comes from knowing what’s yours to carry.

When your nervous system is overwhelmed, it can feel like you’re always “on.” Your heart races, your mind won’t slow down, rest feels out of reach. Over time, even small things can start to feel like too much.

But your nervous system can learn a different rhythm. You don’t have to stay in survival mode.

With support, gentle awareness, and the right tools, your body can begin to feel safe again. At River & Stone, we walk with you as your system finds its way back to steadiness—at a pace that honors where you are. Some simple tools we often come back to:
• Slow your breath, especially the exhale
• Ground yourself in what’s right in front of you
• Create a small moment of comfort or safety
• Name what you’re feeling
• Gently move your body

These aren’t just quick fixes—they’re small ways to build real control over your nervous system— so it holds up when it matters.

Some people carry a kind of quiet healing with them. Being in their presence softens the edges of a hard day and reminds us what it feels like to be seen, safe, and understood.

At River & Stone, we believe connection can be part of the work. The right support doesn’t rush you or try to fix you—it sits with you, listens closely, and helps you find your way back to yourself.

If you’ve found someone who feels like that, hold onto them. And if you’re still searching, you’re not meant to do this alone.

At River & Stone, our caring therapists use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to gently support clients in building healthier patterns and finding steadiness in the midst of life’s challenges.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is about finding balance—learning to accept yourself as you are while also working toward meaningful change. It helps people navigate intense emotions and reduce harmful patterns by building practical, everyday skills. Based on CBT, DBT is specifically adapted to treat intense emotions, self-harm, and borderline personality disorder (BPD).

Through mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and healthier ways of relating to others, DBT creates space for thoughtful responses instead of reactive ones.

Over time, these small shifts lead to deeper healing, stronger relationships, and lasting change.

𝐀 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐜) ✨
Last week, the River & Stone team got together at the office for pizza, tarot, and some much-needed connection. We were joined by Corrine Pelland of Beyond The Gates, who gave each of our providers individual readings—such a special experience.

It was a night full of laughter, insight, and just the right amount of energy and reflection.

Catastrophising can make our thoughts race to the very worst possible outcome. It’s a common thinking pattern—especially when we’re stressed, overwhelmed, or feeling uncertain. While it may feel protective in the moment, it often leaves us feeling more anxious than prepared.

At River & Stone, we gently help clients slow down and notice when their thoughts begin to spiral into “what if the worst happens?” From there, we can begin to challenge those thoughts with curiosity and compassion.
