What is a DIEP flap?
A DIEP flap is an advanced tool in a plastic surgeon’s armamentarium that uses microsurgical technique to reconstruct a breast using your own fat, skin, and tissue. The lower abdominal fat and skin is taken on its blood supply while sparing your abdominal muscles and it is transferred to the chest where it is reattached to the blood supply in the chest.
It is a fantastic alternative to implant based surgery and provides a natural appearance and feel.
