Appreciate the spotlight from IBJI! Grateful to stay active, set new goals, and keep pushing forward - on and off the bike. 🚴‍♂️💪
🌟 Spotlight Friday 🌟 Ever wonder how our physicians stay active outside the clinic?
Meet Justin M. LaReau, MD, who recently completed the Barry-Roubaix, the world’s largest gravel road bike race! 🚴‍♂️💪
What inspired him to take on the challenge?
“I always enjoy scheduling races in the spring. It helps me to have a goal to drive my training during the long Midwest winters.”
How did he prepare?
Given the weather and surgery schedule, I did most of my foundational work on an indoor trainer. I would ride 40 miles before taking my kids to school, then do 20 more miles after dropping them off! It's important to cross train, so I mixed in strength training as well.
“I challenge myself to continually adapt and push my limits. Because of an orthopedic injury to my knee, I had to pause my Ironman triathlons—the running was too painful.”
