🎄🐹 Thinking About Getting Guinea Pigs for a holiday gift?

Guinea pigs are adorable, but they’re also a long-term commitment — they can live 5–8 years or more! 💕

Before bringing piggies home for the holidays, make sure you’re ready for:
🌿 A proper cage (no pet store starter kits!) — if you’re adopting from us, we’ll need to see that your setup is approved ahead of time.
🥦 Daily care: fresh veggies, hay, pellets, and clean water every single day.
🧽 Regular cleaning: their cages need to be cleaned a few times a week.
🩺 Vet visits if they get sick and ✂️ nail trims to keep them comfortable.

Guinea pigs aren’t short-term gifts; they’re loving, social companions who depend on you every day. 💚

🎄🐹 Meet Jingle! 🐹🎄

This handsome little guy has quite the story, and it thankfully ends with him safe, loved, and jingling happily into his new chapter. 💕

When Jingle’s previous owners moved away, they left him behind. The landlord tried to reach them but never got a response, and his plan was to set Jingle free. 💔 Thankfully, a kind friend stepped in before that could happen and made sure he had food, water, and care until help could arrive.

She said every time she stopped by the house with boxes, he would chirp so loudly, like he was asking for snacks or just wanted someone to notice him. 🥹 That’s how he got his name, Jingle, because he always had something to say.

After a bit of searching, his rescuer found us, and now Jingle is safe and warm here at Heart of Ohio Guinea Pig Rescue. 🐾💚

We’re so thankful for the people who step up for the ones who can’t help themselves. Jingle’s story could have ended very differently, but thanks to compassion and quick action, he’s now on his way to a much brighter future. ✨

Jingle is a single male who prefers human company over other guinea pigs, so he is not looking for friends. He is currently being fostered in the Dayton area. 💚

A note from Molly 💚

I know some people wonder why we have a surrender fee. It’s simple: every guinea pig that comes in needs supplies, space, and care. Not all of them need to see a vet, but the fee helps cover things when they do and keeps the rescue running for the next ones who need us.

We don’t charge a surrender fee if it’s within the first two weeks after adoption, because we understand sometimes things just don’t work out. We also don’t charge when guinea pigs are found abandoned or loose, because those are rescue cases, not surrenders.

The fee isn’t meant to be harsh; it’s what keeps the doors open and the hay coming. 🐹💚

And while you’re here, come meet our lovely new surrender piggy! She’s super sweet, super loving, and ready for a new home. Oh, and yes… she’s super naked. 😉💖

Hey everyone, it’s Ashlee!
I’m doing well and still happily de-hoarding the old rescue building, my house, and the yard. So far I’ve rehomed over 50 trash bags of clothing/linens and multiple truckloads of furniture and misc. stuff — it has been incredibly freeing!

We still have a TON of small animal supplies and cages available, including brand-new C&C cage kits. There is roughly 1,000 sq ft of supplies, so this is in-person shopping only.

I’ll still be helping the rescue on the side and will continue fostering, just not running full time anymore.
