Emily has been going through the whole spectrum of rehabilitation with us! 🌟

🦵 To prepare for elective knee surgery, Emily came to us for pre-hab. Then, after surgery, Emily returned to us for short-term inpatient physical and occupational therapy to help with her recovery and had great knee outcomes. Only a few weeks later, she successfully discharged home. 😁

💬 "Everybody was very eager to help me do what I had to do in order to be able to go home," Emily shared. "The staff had pleasant and smiling faces, were accommodating, but were thorough so that I could get better and go home."

Now, Emily is planning to return for outpatient physical therapy a few days a week. 🙌

🩷 Care doesn't always make headlines, but it makes lives better.

Today, National Caregivers Day, we recognize all types of caregivers 🫶: our associates who bring compassion and professionalism to their interactions with our residents; family members who lovingly care for their loved ones; and other professionals in the healthcare industry who take care of those who cannot take care of themselves.

Together, we bring more than just "services." We bring love, comfort, and the dignity every person deserves. ☺️

🎉 This week was Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday if you eat a lot of king cake! 🎂⚜️🎭 Residents, staff, and volunteers all had a very enjoyable time celebrating. Everyone dressed the part with masks, beads, crowns, and bracelets! 👑📿 We also enjoyed music, king cake and snacks, and drinks. Already looking forward to next year! 💜💚

❤️ What a wonderful weekend packed with all kinds of activities! We announced the winners of king and queen for Valentine's Day, and this year, we voted on a king and queen associate too! 😍

👑 The resident winners were Jonnie Hassler and Emanuel Kennedy, and the associate king and queen were Lawrence Barrentine and Debra Keyes. A special thank you to Connie Cain, Shirley May, Roberta Ellis from the Dallas Bay Church for bringing cake and cupcakes to the residents on Friday, and for all the countless months that she brings Christian books that Connie writes herself, for residents to read. 📚

💗 On Saturday, the kitchen cooked a gourmet meal for our patients and residents, followed by activities. The Currier family also visited and passed out beautiful coral carnations to each patient and associate. 🌹

☂️ What better way to celebrate National Umbrella Day than painting your favorite pictures and colors on umbrellas? Well, our residents did just that!

Residents asked for pictures of interest to be drawn on their umbrella for them to paint. 🖌️Everyone enjoyed being creative, relaxing, and spending the evening painting and socializing with each other. Afterward, we played two games of bingo before calling it a day. 😄

Following a hospitalization and orthopedic surgery, Mildred was admitted to Life Care Center of Hixson with significant functional limitations. Here, Mildred received skilled physical and occupational therapy services and was able to successfully discharge to an assisted living facility. Way to go, Mildred! 👏😊

📖 Residents at Life Care Center of Hixson had a special guests from the The Chattanooga Public Library, with featured guests Jacob Goodwin and Nel Reid. They did a murder mystery story, where they took turns reading parts from different characters from a murder mystery case, and gave residents an opportunity to get to know each character. 🕵️

After the reading, the residents were given the opportunity to decide who they thought could have done it. Each resident took a different version of who they thought it was, and they were shocked to find out who really did it! 😮😂

Nel and Jacob did a great job of keeping residents' interest and getting them involved. We look forward to next month, to see what they will be sharing with us. 👍
