September is National Su***de Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness and connect individuals with resources and support.

How to get involved
-Start conversations: Talk openly with family and friends about mental health and su***de. Asking how someone is truly doing can save lives.
-Know the warning signs: Learn to recognize the risk factors and behavioral signs of suicidal ideation.
-Access resources: Download and share materials from organizations like the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
-Support crisis services: Advocate for improvements to the 988 crisis care system by contacting elected officials.

Crisis Support Information
If you or someone you know is in crisis, immediate help is available:
-Dial or text 988 to reach the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline in the US.
-Chat online with the Lifeline at 988lifeline.org
-Call us at 575-393-3168

Call now to connect with business.

Trauma-Informed Care at GCLC

Guidance Center of Lea County, Inc. is committed to the Sanctuary Model of Trauma Informed Care for its staff and clientele. We believe that increasing awareness, emphasizing safety, and teaching skills to our employees that they can utilize to manage their feelings, are crucial steps in creating an environment conducive of processing change, feelings, past trauma, grief and loss.

The Sanctuary© Model was developed by Dr. Sandra Bloom. A well-defined model for organizations like the Guidance Center of Lea County, Sanctuary© integrates trauma theory with therapeutic community principles and the practice of nonviolence.

The Guidance Center has become a certified Sanctuary© provider. The model is being integrated into all of our programs.
