Tonight in our Women’s Anger Management Class, we focused on developing healthy coping strategies and learning how to reframe and challenge the negative thoughts that often come with our anger triggers. 💭💪
Growth starts with awareness, and these women are doing the work to better understand themselves and respond, not react in difficult moments. So proud of each of them for showing up and putting in the effort!

Fathers and parents play a critical role. Being present, informed, and engaged can make a lasting impact on a child’s choices and future. Open communication and strong family connections are key in preventing substance use and building healthier homes.

At the Community Drug Coalition of Lea County, we are truly fortunate to have board members who not only believe in our mission, but actively live it through their dedication, service, and personal growth.
We are proud to share that our board member, Ashley Dimascio, was recently inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Society, a recognition of her outstanding academic achievements and commitment to excellence in education. This accomplishment reflects not only her hard work in the classroom, but also her resilience, determination, and unwavering belief in a better future.
Ashley’s journey is a powerful reminder that recovery is not just about sobriety, it’s about rediscovering purpose, setting goals, and having the courage to pursue dreams that may have once felt out of reach. Through her dedication, she embodies what is possible when individuals are given the opportunity, support, and strength to rebuild their lives.
Her story inspires hope in those we serve every day. It reinforces that sobriety can be a foundation for growth, achievement, and meaningful change, not just for the individual, but for the entire community.
We are honored to have Ashley as part of our leadership and incredibly proud to walk alongside her as she continues to pursue her goals and create a future defined by purpose, success, and impact.

Tonight in our Mom’s in Recovery Parenting Class was powerful. 💛
Our Peer Support specialist courageously shared parts of her story with the moms—real, raw, and full of growth. Her journey reminded us that recovery isn’t just about staying sober, it’s about rebuilding relationships, learning new patterns, and showing up differently for our children.
We also had an open and honest conversation about co-parenting—how challenging it can be, but also how important it is to create stability and peace for our kids, even when it’s hard.
So proud of these moms for doing the work, showing up, and choosing healing every day. You are not alone in this journey. 💪💛

💙 Father Awareness Matters 💙
The Community Drug Coalition is committed to supporting fathers in understanding the impact of substance use within their families and communities.
Fathers play a powerful role in shaping their children’s choices, behaviors, and future. Being present, aware, and engaged can make all the difference—especially when it comes to preventing substance use.
🔹 Know the signs
🔹 Have open conversations
🔹 Lead by example
🔹 Create a safe and supportive home
Substance use doesn’t just affect one person—it impacts the entire family. When fathers step up with awareness, education, and action, they help break cycles and build stronger, healthier homes.
Let’s continue to support our fathers and empower them to lead with strength, knowledge, and purpose. 💪

👨👧👦 Positive Parenting Starts with Strong Fathers 💪
The Community Drug Coalition recently hosted a session focused on positive parenting for fathers through the 24/7 Dad program—and it was a powerful conversation.
We talked about what it truly means to show up as a dad:
✔️ Being present and engaged
✔️ Building healthy relationships with your children
✔️ Leading with patience, consistency, and love
One of the key topics was managing stress as a father. Let’s be real—life gets overwhelming. Work, finances, and everyday responsibilities can take a toll. But how we handle that stress matters. Our children are always watching and learning from us.
During the session, we explored:
🔹 Healthy ways to cope with stress
🔹 The importance of emotional control
🔹 How positive parenting creates stronger families and safer communities
Strong fathers help build strong families—and strong families help prevent substance abuse and risky behaviors in our communities.
If you’re a dad (or know one) looking to grow, connect, and lead with purpose, the 24/7 Dad program is a great place to start.
📢 Stay tuned for upcoming classes and opportunities to get involved!

Reducing the problems of Drug and Alcohol Abuse in Hobbs and Lea County!
In 2005, the Community Drug Coalition (CDC) of Lea County began as a grass-roots initiative by local citizens and community leaders in an effort to address the growing drug problem in Hobbs and Lea County, New Mexico. The dedication, commitment and efforts of a small group of people developed into a non-profit coalition. The City of Hobbs, the County of Lea and others provide funding for the CDC. The CDC would not have become a reality without the financial support of the local governments and citizens.
MISSION
The CDC is committed to the reduction of substance abuse in Lea County, thus improving the lives of the entire community.
The CDC has a mission to prevent and end the use of illegal drugs and abuse of legal drugs by implementing a three-pronged approach of prevention, intervention and treatment.
Prevention will empower residents to live healthy lifestyles and identify front-line deterrents to vigorously educate the community, with a primary focus on youth.
Intervention will crush the environment and atmosphere that is currently enabling a large segment of the population to indulge and participate in substance abuse.
Treatment will develop and maintain an effective treatment system to make our community a safe and healthy environment in which to raise our families.
