Reiki (ray-key) is a method of spiritual healing & self-improvement that is simple, natural and safe. Reiki is effective in helping many illnesses and has no currently known side-effects. It works wonderfully in conjunction with other medical or therapeutic techniques to help promote a quicker and stronger recovery. The word Reiki is created from two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom" or "Higher Power" and Ki which means "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy." The basic Reiki is Usui Reiki - this is the "original" from which all other variations stem from such as: Angel Reiki, Celtic Reiki, or what I was taught which is Dragon Reiki. I am Dragon Reiki Level III Master Certified. I believe in dragons - that they are magickal, wise, strong, protective creatures. I have a dragon that always joins me when I am doing Reiki - her name is Starlight. I am grateful for the extra strength she provides to me. Massage has many benefits and studies have shown that just some of the benefits of massage therapy are:
Relief of stress, anxiety, and/or tension
Encourages overall relaxation - body, mind and spirit
Pain management
Releases endorphines - your body's natural stress reliever & painkiller
Improving your immune system
Improving oxygen circulation in your whole body
Massage sessions can be customized depending on your age, medical history, current condition or any specific needs or goals you may have. Gifting your child(ren) with a pediatric massage can help them be more in tune with their own bodies, help them with "growing pains", and help them relax from the stress many school systems seem to have on our children. What is good for you as an adult, can be even better for them as a growing child. Massage in elementary school aged children has been shown to help improve their attention, focus and creativity in the classroom. Studies have also shown that the body has cellular memory - the belief that the body itself is capable of storing memories in each cell as opposed to only in the brain. These memories can be reinforced with repetition. Each time you get a massage, your body stores the memory of it in every system, not just the brain. Within a day or two of getting your massage, you find yourself thinking about it: how good it felt, how nice the candles smelled, how gentle the music was, how relaxed you felt by the end. As you’re recalling each piece of the memory your body begins to react as if it were experiencing that massage again. A strong memory can have an effect on the body days, weeks or months down the road. Think about it: you treat yourself to a massage at least once a month, reinforcing the cellular memory of the relaxing experience more and more. It becomes easier for you to recall the feelings from your sessions more clearly and you find yourself relaxed days or weeks after the massage just because of how strong your memories are, both mind and body, making the benefits of each massage session last longer and longer. Healing Touch is an energy therapy in which practitioners consciously use their hands in a heart-centered & intentional way to support & facilitate physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being & healing. The goal in Healing Touch is to restore harmony & balance in the energy system, placing the person in a position to self-heal. Healing Touch complements conventional health care and is used in collaboration with other approaches to health & healing. The program was developed in the 1980’s by Janet Mentgen, RN, B.S.N..
