MRS. CARMEN HAYNES MINTON

Mrs. Carmen Minton, age 68 of Grantville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital.

Born September 29, 1957, in Atlanta, Mrs. Minton was the daughter of the late Charles Durwood Haynes and the late Jackie Houston Clampett. She was a lifelong resident of Coweta County, enjoyed being outdoors with her animals, and loved her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Minton was a long-time volunteer at Ruth Hill Elementary School where she was known as the class grandma.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Minton of Grantville; son, Mathew (Stephanie) Haynes of Newnan; daughter, Melisa (Josh) Young of Green Bay, WI; step-sons, Jeremy (Sabine) Minton of Switzerland and Justin Minton of New York; 7 grandchildren; and a brother.

In keeping with Mrs. Minton's wishes, no services are planned at this time. to honor her memory, the family ask that donations in her memory be made to Student Funds at Ruth Hill Elementary School, 57 Sunset Lane, Newnan, GA 30263.

MR. KEITH WHITE

Mr. Keith White, 71 of the Rocky Mount Community of Meriwether County, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.

Keith, the most selfless man you would ever know, was born August 31, 1954, at Fort Benning. He was the son of the late Virgil Lee White and the late Lillian Morrison White. He enjoyed working for JCS Enterprises for 30 plus years where he loved his customers and his fellow employees. Keith was an outgoing person, enjoyed hunting, drag racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway, and going to car shows. His biggest love in life was his family and he could always be found in his shop working with his grandsons.

Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Mary Lynn White; step-son, Joshua Mock (Jana); and grandsons, Austin Mock (Skye) and Bryson Mock, all of Luthersville. In addition to his parents, Mr. White was preceded in death by a step-son, Kyle Buck.

The family will host a celebration of life at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 4, at Bethel Baptist Church with the Reverend Kenny Heinzel officiating.

Keith was a giving and thoughtful person who even in death will help many people with his gift of organ donation.

Mr. Carl Leon Cash, 75, of Hahira, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Avalon Health and Rehabilitation in Newnan.

Mr. Cash was born October 8, 1950, in Atlanta, lived in Forest Park for a number of years, and was a retired carpentry contractor. He had made his home in Hahira for thirty years and was an avid fisherman.

Survivors include his sons, Shannon Walker (Renee’) of Newnan, Jason Walker (Monica) of Hogansville; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Savannah Walker.

The family will announce plans for a memorial gathering to honor the life of Mr. Cash.

Mrs. Mavis Murphy Beck, age 83, of Luthersville, passed away Monday, March 9, 2026, at her home.

Mrs. Beck was born September 5, 1942, in Meriwether County, daughter of the late James Jackson Murphy and Beatrice Rowe Murphy. A resident of Michigan for almost 40 years, she was a member of Shields Baptist Church in Shields, Michigan and had been employed as a hospital pharmacy technician before returning to make her home in Meriwether County in 1999. She was a talented seamstress, enjoyed playing the piano, and was a loving mother to her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Ann Raines of Luthersville; son, William M. “Bill” Beck (Tina) of Warren, MI; grandchildren, Brandon Miller (Kayla), Billy Beck, Crystal Beck, Heather Butler; ten great-grandchildren; and her brothers, Arnold Murphy and Larry Murphy, both of Luthersville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William G. “Bill” Beck; and her son, Timothy James Beck.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 12, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, with the Reverend Donny Shelton officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Thursday, prior to the service.

Mrs. Paige McGee Jackson, 83, of Moreland, passed away Monday, March 9, 2026, at her home.

Mrs. Jackson was born March 9, 1943, in Hogansville, daughter of the late Robert Alvin McGee and Josephine Catherine Hodges McGee. A graduate of Hogansville High School, she was employed for many years at Newnan Hospital, where she served as the first key punch operator, and later worked at Beaulieu Nursing Home in Newnan. She also served as a loving caregiver to her son.

Paige is survived by her son, Mark Edward Wyche of Moreland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Lamar Jackson; brother, Robert A. McGee, Jr.; sister, Sandra McGee Jetter; and her nephew, Derek Stephen Jetter.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 11, at the graveside in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville, with the Reverend Randall Hodge officiating.

Carolyn Moncus

Carolyn Moncus was born in Lagrange, Georgia on December 16, 1955. She passed from this life into paradise on March 6, 2026 at WellStar Hospice of LaGrange. She was a Christ follower and looked forward to experiencing the joy and healing of her eternal home.

Carolyn was a Registered Nurse. She loved her profession and considered herself an advocate for her patients. During her career, she worked as a hospital nurse on the floor and in the emergency department at hospitals in LaGrange and Atlanta. Additionally, she worked with traveling nurses in several states including Florida, Nevada, and Hawaii. After she became too sick to continue full time nursing, she transitioned to nursing with the home bound. Although Carolyn had been unable to work for the last two decades, she kept her license until a few years ago.

Carolyn is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Rickey Story (Jacksonville, Florida), and two nephews and their wives, Jonathan and Beth Story (Trinity, Fl), and Craig and Lisa Story, (Orange Park, FL) and her caregiver and best friend, Terry Russell (LaGrange, GA.) Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Tillman and Faye (Fincher) Moncus.

Per Miss Moncus' request, there will be no service. Later this year, there will be a 'gathering of friends and family' to honor the life of Carolyn.

Mr. Arthur Wayne "Art" Birdsall, 78 of LaGrange, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Regional Medical Center of Central Alabama.

Born on November 30, 1947, in Jackson, Michigan, he was the eldest of four children born to the late Hubert Birdsall and the late Dorothy Bassett Folds. He was a resident of LaGrange since 1977 and worked as foreman at the Troup County Landfill for eight years before becoming became an independent contractor specializing in home remodeling and repairs. Mr. Birdsall had a competitive spirit, a passion for playing pool, and enjoyed hiking and fishing.

Survivors include his daughters, Wendie Neel, Tara Birdsall, Amy Bolt (John), and Holly Estes (Kelley); grandchildren, Andrew Birdsall, Brandon Birdsall, Cameron Birdsall, Katy Dereczyk, Bishop Mcgee, Destinee Bolt, Leighanne Horton, Deeanne Horton, David Bolt, Joshua Birdsall, Marion Cooper, and Joseph Cooper; a great-grandchild, Ryett Hurst; sisters, Carolyn Lindsay (Bill) and Phyllis Stewart (Keith Manning); and his aunt, Ruby Yarbrough. In addition to his parents, Mr. Birdsall was preceded in death by his brother, Garold Birdsall.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Doug Bingham will officiate and interment will be in Cross Point Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 until 2 Wednesday afternoon.

Mrs. Karen Meyer Goforth, 73 of Hogansville, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2026, Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center.

Born May 24, 1952 in Cincinnati, OH, Mrs. Goforth was the daughter of the late Elmer Harry Meyer and Marie May Bollinger Meyer. A resident of Troup County for 30 years, Mrs. Goforth was a nurse at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center and was active in the LaGrange Senior Center. She enjoyed crafting and crocheting.

Survivors include her brother, Thomas Meyer of Hogansville; and a niece, Cecelia, of Ohio. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Goforth was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Goforth.

No services are planned at this time.

Ms. Allen was born February 23, 1954, in LaGrange, daughter of the late William Paul Allen and Nora Lee Leavins Allen. A resident of LaGrange most of her life, she was a homemaker, enjoyed crafting and painting, and loved people and never met a stranger. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in LaGrange.

Survivors include her son, Josh Pittman (Kimberly) of LaGrange; granddaughters, Hailey Pittman and Emily Pittman; sisters, Annetha Allen of Alexander City, AL, Sue Franks (Calvin) of Tuscaloosa, AL; nephews, Darrell Moncus (Glenith), Dwayne Moncus, Michael Franks (Kimberly), and Anthony Whitt; nieces, Carmen Guggenberger (Mike) and Jennifer Morris; great-nephews, Lucas Moncus and Thomas Guggenberger; great-nieces, Aubrey Moncus and Kristina Shattucks (Trent); and special friends, Mike Pittman, Mary Gregory, and the members of Mark Peak’s Sunday School class.

The family will host a memorial service at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 15, at Grace Baptist Church in LaGrange, with Darrell Moncus officiating. The family will greet friends at the church.

Mrs. Barbara Weir Mote, age 89, of Willow Park, Texas, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Weatherford Healthcare Center in Weatherford, TX.

Mrs. Mote was born May 10, 1936, in Newnan, daughter of the late Ervin and Carrie Lee Estep Weir. A resident of Texas most of her life, she was a homemaker and had served as a caregiver to many members of her family. She enjoyed reading.

Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth Bock of Willow Park; grandchildren, Melissa Bock, Crystal Amara, Chris Dowd (Vandy), and Robert Mote (Mary Katherin); and great-grandchildren, Jordan Amara and Jasmine Amara. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence E. Mote; her son, Larry Lee Mote; and her daughter, Debra Mote Dowd.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, March 5, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend James Calhoun will officiate and interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.

Mrs. Cindy Green Baker, 59, of Grantville, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2026, at the home of her mother.

Born December 30, 1966, in Atlanta, Mrs. Baker had lived in Grantville for the past 30 years and had previously been employed as a medical receptionist. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church, where she had served as a Sunday School teacher and was always willing to take the time to listen to and help others. Cindy loved her dogs, enjoyed fishing, and loved cutting grass and riding the tractor.

Survivors include her husband, Keith Baker of Grantville; daughters, Ali Baker of Grantville and Amber Williams (Austin) of Milton, FL; grandchildren, Cody and Stormi; her mother, Claudia Green of Grantville; sister, Debra Turpin of Anderson, SC; brother, Bill Staton (Laura) of Chocowinity, NC; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Green and her brother, Dwayne Green.

The funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 13, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Donnie Shelton will officiate and interment will be in Hilly Lake Cemetery.

James Lamar "Jim" Brown

Mr. James Lamar “Jim” Brown, age 88, of Hogansville, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Hospice LaGrange.

Mr. Brown was born January 30, 1938, in Springfield, Ohio, son of the late Bruce Frank Brown and Opal Eilene Hill Brown. A proud veteran of service in the U.S. Army, he retired as a First Sergeant in 1985 after 30 years, serving as a Green Beret in the Airborne and Special Forces. He also retired from the Troup County School System, was a member of Ayres Memorial Church, and loved reading his Bible. Mr. Brown enjoyed model trains, was a jack-of-all trades, and loved to tinker.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Weathers Brown of Hogansville; son, Kent Brown of Barwell, England; daughters, Christie DeBorde (Jeff) of Villa Rica, Melanie Longshore (Greg) of LaGrange, Debra Reaves (Mike) of Pine Mountain, Robin Morgan (Joey) of Fayetteville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 3, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Wayne Hester will officiate and interment will be in White’s Chapel Church Cemetery in Roanoke, AL.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to West Georgia Hospice, 1510 Vernon Rd., LaGrange, GA 30240.
