“I volunteer because I’ve been the patient. From the doctors and nurses to dietary and housekeeping, every single person I encountered was wonderful. You can truly feel the care here. I wanted to be a part of it… to give even a small piece of that same kindness to someone else.”

The Phelps Memorial Hospital Foundation recently awarded a $45,000 grant to the Phelps County Agricultural Society to support important facility safety and infrastructure improvements. Grant funds will be used to install smoke alarms throughout the entire building and update lighting on the east side of the facility, enhancing safety for the many community events hosted throughout the year. The fairgrounds serve as a generous and vital community partner, frequently providing free rental space for fundraisers, post-proms, and other community events, and these improvements will also help ensure the facility is up to date where a childcare center will be located.
