Stories Worth Sharing, Moments Worth Holding

Our assisted living residents enjoyed time in the sunshine, sharing moments together that brought back many memories ☀️

The afternoon was filled with reminiscence as residents reflected on growing up, life on the farm, careers, and the experiences that shaped who they are today. We also heard stories about their families and moments in life they consider to be such a blessing.

Some stories were shared with a quiet sense of reflection, while others had us laughing pretty hard. We definitely have a few residents who can keep the belly laughs going with their stories 💙

Each one is a reminder of the lives they’ve lived and the memories they carry. It is always meaningful to simply take the time to listen.

With another warm day ahead, it is always nice to stop in. Our residents truly enjoy the company, whether it is conversation, sharing a memory, or just spending time together.

Who do you think had more fun today… our residents or the All Saints students? 😊

At HMH, bingo is taken seriously. Cards were lined up, numbers were watched closely, and you could hear it across the table…“I just need one more!”

The students from All Saints School brought the bingo cards and jumped right in, playing alongside our residents and helping keep track of boards so no one missed a number 🃏 There were plenty of bingos, a few close calls, and just enough prizes to keep things fun. From funny glasses to pretty pens and even playdoh, each win came with a little extra joy.

Right alongside that focus were the smiles, a few laughs, and those in between moments that make time together a great pass time.

Bingo is a resident favorite here at HMH and is played at least three times a week. It is one of those simple traditions that keeps our residents engaged, active, and enjoying the day together.

Tell us your favorite pastime using emojis. Ours are 🎲 🃏 🧩

Thank you to All Saints Catholic Church and School-Holdrege students for spending time with us and being part of the HMH community.

🕊️ Lifetime Achievement Award – Kevin Moriarty

Today we celebrate a remarkable career in senior care leadership.

Holdrege Memorial Homes proudly congratulates Administrator Kevin Moriarty on receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award from LeadingAge Nebraska.

This recognition honors Kevin’s more than 35 years of dedication to long-term care and his lasting impact on the residents, families, staff, and communities he has served.

Kevin began his career in long-term care as Administrator of Aftenro Home in Duluth, Minnesota before returning to Nebraska to serve as Administrator of St. Luke’s Good Samaritan Village in Kearney. In 2001, he joined Holdrege Memorial Homes, where he has spent the past 25 years guiding the organization with steady leadership and a commitment to compassionate care.

Throughout his career, Kevin has also worked to strengthen the profession itself. He has served as a preceptor and mentor to fifteen nursing home administrators, helping guide the next generation of leaders. He spent ten years on the Nebraska Board of Nursing Home Administration, contributing to professional standards and licensure across the state.

Kevin has also held leadership roles with LeadingAge Nebraska and the Nebraska Health Care Association, including serving as President of LeadingAge Nebraska, helping support advocacy and quality care for aging adults throughout the state.

His leadership extends into the community through service with the Holdrege Area Chamber of Commerce and the Holdrege Area Early Childhood Partnership Inc., reflecting his belief that strong communities require investment across every generation.

When Kevin reflects on his career, he often speaks most about the residents whose lives and stories have shaped his perspective.

His career reflects the mission that guides Holdrege Memorial Homes each day:

Caring for the Ones Who Cared for Us.

Congratulations, Kevin, on this well-deserved recognition.

☘️ Lucky Latte Day at HMH ☘️

It may have been a cold Nebraska morning, but our team still showed up strong💚

To the staff who braved the weather, came in on your day off, adjusted your schedules, or helped coworkers by grabbing orders so others could stay warm… thank you. That kind of teamwork is what makes HMH so special.

We are truly grateful for each of you and the care you show not only to our residents, but to one another every single day.

A big thank you to Common Ground Coffee for the warm drinks and 37 Smokehouse for the delicious breakfast burritos ☕🌯

Lucky Latte Day is until 11:00 AM so there is still time to stop by!

Drop a ☘️ in the comments to show some appreciation for our amazing team 🏠

🌟 Community connections matter.

We were happy to host Coffee with a Cop at Holdrege Memorial Homes and welcome officers from the Holdrege Police Department, Phelps County Sheriff’s Office, and Nebraska State Patrol.

Residents enjoyed the opportunity to visit, share stories, and connect with members of our local law enforcement community. We appreciate the time these officers took to visit with the HMH community.

Thank you for helping make it a special morning for our residents.

🧵 A Quilt Stitched with Heart

There is something special about creativity and community coming together at Holdrege Memorial Homes.

Our recent Quilt Raffle supporting Assisted Living Crafts brought together residents, staff, families, and friends who believe in creating meaningful moments for those who call HMH home. Together, we raised $70 to support future craft supplies and creative activities for our residents.

🌟 Join us in congratulating our winner, Assisted Living resident Janice McCarthy!

Janice shared that she plans to hang the quilt in her room, making it a special part of her home here at HMH. Residents and staff alike shared how deserving she is of this beautiful quilt.

Thank you to everyone who purchased tickets and supported this effort. The creativity and joy our residents bring to these projects make them truly meaningful for our entire community. 🏡

Dragonfly Award | Caring Hands Recognition

Last week at Holdrege Memorial Homes, we were proud to recognize Reagan Pascoe as our Dragonfly Award recipient.

Reagan was nominated by Emily Popple, Director of Nursing, along with the Good Vibes Committee, for the remarkable growth she has shown as a CNA and the compassion she brings to her work each day.

Her teammates describe Reagan as phenomenal. She is often the first to step in when help is needed and never hesitates to rise to the occasion. Whether supporting a resident who needs extra care or helping a coworker during a busy shift, Reagan consistently shows kindness, initiative, and a genuine heart for the people she serves.

“Reagan is phenomenal. Watching her growth as a CNA has been incredible. She approaches residents with patience and kindness and continues to go above and beyond to make sure they feel supported and valued.”
