Such a super sad case! This is the grandson of someone I worked with at my Dadās orthodontic office growing up. She called me early in the morning as I was getting on the treadmill. Her grandson suffers from grand mal seizures a lot and he had one and fell right on his face knocking out his front tooth. His Mom put it in milk which is good if it canāt be reinserted immediately. They got to me within an hour and I removed the orthodontic wire which you can see was mangled. Took the three brackets and got them ready to recement to the teeth. After anesthetic set in, I used a spoon curette to remove granulation tissue inside the socket site and reestablished bleeding, then I placed the tooth back in. I always check their ābiteā and when he hit his face it pushed the bone inward so he only bites on the two front teeth. I had to support the teeth and force the buffalo bone outward until his bite was correct. When putting the brackets on I made it so the new wire put an upward force on the tooth I replanted to help hold it into place. š¤ I am hopefully with his young age the tooth will heal with no problems. There is a chance the tooth will need root canal treatment. Ultimately if the body rejects it, we will have to remove the tooth and bone graft for future implant. He was so brave and had such a good attitude for the tough hand life has dealt him!
