March has arrived! Here are some of our favorite exercises for basketball athletes with shoulder injuries.🏀

Mobility/Flexibility: The shoulder is the joint with the most degrees of freedom in the body, which is why having good mobility and flexibility is so crucial for basketball

Sport Specific Training: Specificity is important for return to sport rehab. Your exercises should be targeted towards your specific function. Take advantage of part-task training and random-practice techniques to help improve motor learning as you work out of pain.

Strength/Stability: Don’t be tempted to only do exercises that look like basketball training. Just because it doesn’t look basketball-centric doesn’t mean it won’t directly improve performance as you recover. Working on pure force production and joint stability will increase resilience and reduce risk of injury going forward. 💪

Glenohumeral instability occurs when the shoulder joint lacks the stability needed to stay properly aligned during movement.

Today’s session focused on targeted exercises to strengthen the muscles that stabilize the shoulder and improve joint control. With consistent rehab and proper progression, patients can regain strength, stability, and confidence in their shoulder again
