Our friends at Gateway Mission are offering a Cooling Center for anyone seeking relief from the heat. Stop in, stay safe, and spread the word to those who might need a place to cool off. Thank you, Gateway Mission, for being there for our community!

With the heat index expected to reach at or over 100° this week, Gateway Mission is opening Emergency Cooling Centers for unsheltered individuals and families.

Open Daily 8 AM – 8 PM | July 23–25

If you or someone you know needs relief from the heat, please come to Gateway Mission.

Please help us welcome Dr. Cammenga, our new volunteer optometrist at Holland Free Health Clinic!

Originally from Kalamazoo, Dr. Cammenga earned her Bachelor's Degree at the University of Michigan (and then bravely crossed rivalry lines!) to complete her Doctorate of Optometry at Ohio State University. She is a proud member of the West Michigan Optometric Association and brings a passion for primary eye care—from pediatrics to geriatrics. Dr. Cammenga lives in Zeeland with her husband, three children, and their dog.

We’re so grateful she’s sharing her time and expertise with our community!

Kim is a Financial Consultant with over 21 years of investment experience. She specializes in retirement planning, qualified plan transfers, and education planning. Kim is active in church and was a previous board member for Zeeland Christian, Good Samaritan Ministries, and Destination Imagination. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with her husband and son.

Jessica is a public health consultant with KWB Strategies focusing primarily on mental health and substance use. Jessica lives in Holland with her husband and two boys. She is joining the Holland Free Health Clinic leadership team because she is passionate about increasing access to healthcare within our community. In her free time, Jessica enjoys hiking and attends BLVD Church.

Heather brings a heart for service to the HFHC board. She has worked in Financial Services since 2006 and is currently a Financial Advisor at West Michigan Advisors. Her commitment to helping others began as a case manager at the Holland Rescue Mission, connecting individuals experiencing homelessness with resources. She’s also volunteered with Rabbit Angels Rabbit Rescue. A Holland native, Heather lives near Hamilton with her husband, Eric, and their two sons. She enjoys hiking and camping with her family and two German Shepherds.

As a licensed psychologist with training from Penn State and the University of Illinois, and leadership experience at Virginia Tech, Augusta University, and Michigan State University, Dr. Patishnock brings a wealth of clinical, academic, and strategic expertise. His career spans roles as a psychologist, director, adjunct faculty member, executive coach, consultant, and nonprofit board member. We’re grateful to have Dr. Patishnock at HFHC as we continue expanding access to mental health support in our community.

Did you know our skin is the body’s largest organ?! Today is World Skin Health Day, and we’re proud to stand with National Association of Free & Charitable Clinics (NAFC), local clinics, providers, and partners who understand the importance of skin health.

World Skin Health Day is a global initiative with the purpose of educating people about the significance of skin health and encouraging discussion and actions that work towards improving skin health.

Holland Free Health Clinic is pleased to launch our Pamper & Prayer Foot Care off-site at Refresh: Hygiene and Hope. Just as Jesus moved toward people in need—meeting them in the streets, on hillsides, and by the water—HFHC is committed to meeting people where they are beyond the walls of a clinic.

While Refresh offers a welcoming space for our unhoused neighbors—showers, meals, mail service, and more—HFHC is providing foot care on-site: foot soaking, nail trimming, callus filing, and connection.

Huge thanks to our dedicated volunteers, Community Action House, and First United Methodist Church of Holland for making this work possible through shared space and purpose.
