At Spine + Movement, your goals are not something we save for later. We address them on your very first visit. βœ”οΈβœ”οΈ

If standing up from a chair hurts your hip or your back, we do not just give you exercises and send you on your way. We watch how you sit. We look at how your body is working together. And we teach you right away how to stand differently so it does not hurt.

Our focus is on helping you move better in real life, not just during a session. By understanding what your body needs and making meaningful changes from day one, we help you build confidence and reduce pain faster.

This is care designed around your goals, your movement, and what matters most to you.

A scoliometer is one of the tools we use to measure and monitor scoliosis without relying on repeated X-rays. It works much like a level placed along the spine, using a small indicator to show how much rotation is present as the body bends forward.

This measurement does not match what you see on an X-ray, and it is not meant to. Instead, it gives us a consistent and reliable way to track changes over time. By recording these numbers at each visit, we can see whether a curve is staying the same, progressing, or settling down.

At The Spine + Movement Center, this allows us to make informed decisions, adjust care when needed, and keep a close eye on how your body is responding, all while reducing unnecessary imaging.

Stretching or strengthening is not an either or choice. Joints work best when the muscles around them are balanced. πŸ‘‡

If some muscles are tight and others are weak, movement breaks down and pain often follows. The answer is not doing more exercises. It is doing the right combination so your joints can move the way they are designed. βœ”οΈβœ”οΈ

How many physical therapy visits should it really take to address an issue? πŸ‘‡

For most of our clients, the answer is fewer than you might expect. Our average is four visits, and we typically see you once a week at most because life is busy and your time matters.

That efficiency does not happen by accident. It comes from extensive, intentional training and a deep commitment to understanding movement at a high level. The goal is not to keep you coming back, but to identify what is actually driving the issue and teach your body how to change it as quickly and effectively as possible.

At The Spine + Movement Center, education is the foundation of care. When you understand how your body moves and what needs to shift, progress happens faster and lasts longer.

SCIATICA: Literally a pain in the butt! πŸ‘€πŸ‘€

Hip pain and back pain are often connected, especially when nerves are involved. Sciatic pain does not come from just one muscle or spot. It starts in the spine and can show up in the hip, glute, or leg.

When the hip does not move well, the pelvis and lower back are forced to move more than they should. Over time, that extra strain can irritate nerves and create pain.

The answer is not always more stretching. It is understanding how your hip, pelvis, and spine move together and addressing the real source of the problem.

At Spine & Movement, we help you identify what is truly driving your pain and create a plan that supports how your body is meant to move.

If you are questioning whether scoliosis might be present, there are simple and reliable ways to screen for it. One common tool is a scoliometer, which is used during the Adams Forward Bend Test. It works like a level and helps measure the amount of rotation in the spine as it is guided down the back.

This screening gives us valuable information. If the measurement is greater than 5 degrees, an X-ray is typically recommended to better understand what is happening. If it is under 5 degrees, it is usually something to monitor over time.

If you have concerns, start by asking your pediatrician or primary care provider for a scoliosis screening. And if you are unsure who to ask, or you want a second look, you can come see us at The Spine + Movement Center. We can perform this screening quickly and help guide you on the next steps with clarity and confidence.

If you deal with back pain, the solution is not always more stretching or strengthening. Sometimes it is learning how to move differently.

When you raise your arm overhead, your weight should stay centered through your foot, and your spine should remain stable. Most people unknowingly arch their lower back as the arm lifts, which adds unnecessary pressure to the spine.
Your arm should be able to move independently from your trunk. When your back moves every time your arm does, that repeated motion can create irritation, swelling, and pain over the course of the day.

Learning how to keep your spine still while your arm moves reduces that extra stress and can significantly decrease back pain. Small changes in movement patterns can make a big difference in how your body feels.
