Some days remind us exactly why we do what we do. Today, we had the sweetest little 6-year-old patient visiting from out of town who came in needing help with a broken pink and purple hearing aid. At the beginning of the visit she was super shy and tucked behind her mom, holding on to her tight and avoiding eye contact. But as the appointment went on, something changed. We laughed, talked about cats and hearing aids, connected, and by the time we said goodbye, we felt like best friends.

A few hours later, to my surprise, we received flowers from her!

It was such a simple, beautiful gesture, that touched my heart deeply.

Moments like this are why I love what I do. Yes, we help with tinnitus and communication, but the real privilege is caring for people. It is earning trust, sharing joy, and being invited into someone’s life in a meaningful way, even if only for a short time.

To this precious little girl and her family: Thank you for bringing so much joy to our day! 💜🌸

Happy 95th Birthday to William Shatner! 🎉 Most people know him as Captain Kirk. Not many know that a special effects explosion on the set of Star Trek left him with permanent tinnitus. By speaking openly about it and supporting the American Tinnitus Association, he has helped bring awareness to a condition that affects millions and often feels invisible.

is real. It can be frustrating, exhausting, and isolating. But you do not have to just “live with it."

If you hear ringing, buzzing, hissing, or other sounds that no one else hears, there are evidence-based ways to evaluate it and help reduce the distress it causes.

Raise your voice gently without yelling, be patient, face them, enunciate & speak more slowly, rephrase instead of repeating, turn down TV/music to help them hear you more easily. Support and encourage them to get help. Hearing loss doesn't have to separate us from loved ones.
