Happy 4th! Remember that fireworks can get loud enough to cause hearing problems and ringing in the ears.
ADULTS: pack some earplugs or earmuffs. If without, fingers in ears work great!
CHILDREN under 3 should not use earplugs. Small earmuffs, or soft-band muffs for young infants, are best. Hands over ears are always effective too! If infants or children are with you, remember that they are more sensitive to loud sounds. Best practice is to move back more if you have children with you.
Please be considerate in setting off fireworks if you have COMBAT VETERANS who live nearby. Fireworks can be a strong PTSD trigger and can also make tinnitus worse. Please ask and be respectful.
Don't forget your PETS: Loud sounds and light flashes can scare them. Make sure they are safe and comfortable inside, close blinds/curtains if possible and leave the TV or radio on to mask the fireworks sounds.
Have an enjoyable and safe 4th of July! πΊπΈ
