Community Mental Health of Ottawa County (CMHOC) is a public provider of services for people with developmental disabilities, serious mental illness, and/or substance use disorders. Our programs and activities are governed by a Board of Directors. Our services are available to residents of Ottawa County who have Medicaid or are uninsured, and who are eligible for services as defined by the Michigan Mental Health Code. You're invited to attend upcoming public hearings to learn more and share input as the Board of Commissioners considers transitioning Community Mental Health of Ottawa County from a county department to an authority.

Each hearing will include a presentation followed by a public comment period. To provide an opportunity for all speakers and to ensure the meeting proceeds efficiently, public comments will be limited to three minutes per person.

988 offers emotional support, crisis de-escalation, connection to community resources, and relies on law enforcement and emergency medical intervention only when necessary.
911 is useful for urgent threats to life or safety, immediate intervention for physical danger, medical emergencies, and crimes in progress.

The Community Mental Health of Ottawa County Access Center seeks to connect individuals seeking behavioral health services with the most appropriate services and resources as accurately and efficiently as possible.

The Access Center provides eligibility determination for CMHOC treatment services, referral information and assistance, and crisis follow-up services. You can call the Access Center anytime Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm at (616) 393-5681.

Our Story

Community Mental Health of Ottawa County (CMHOC) is a public provider of services for people with intellectual/developmental disabilities, serious mental illness, and/or substance use disorders. Our programs and activities are governed by a Board of Directors. Our services are available to residents of Ottawa County who have Medicaid, Healthy Michigan Plan, MI Child, Medicare, no insurance or are under insured, and who are eligible for services as defined by the Michigan Mental Health Code.

The Access Center is our front door to services. Access staff is in place to welcome applicants for service, provide screening, determine eligibility for services, collect information, and provide appropriate referrals for Behavioral Health and Substance Use Disorder Services. Our Access Center is available and accessible by phone at 1-877-588-4357 or on a walk-in basis.
