Everything is Connected
The concept of interconnection of just about everything has been stewing deeply in me as I have spent years studying the way our body works alongside our natural world and social systems.
I’m trying to make sense of it all in context to what is going on around me.
The complexity I see is confounding but gratefully seems to spark more and more curiosity in me.
Let’s just take this one line of thought to dive into.
The human body is connected to and in relationship with
=> All the microbes in us and on us
=> All the microbes in our air, soil, water
All these microbes respond to
=> Environmental changes, such as changing weather patterns
All this affects
=> the quality of the air, food, and water that we humans need to function
Directly impacting how our human bodies feel and heal.
Our culture is embedded in this microbial web.
Our health depends on our culture
And our sense of safety.
As I see it, our culture (in the US and in varying degrees in other countries) has long been racing forward with a way of living (let’s just name it capitalism with its friends money & power) disregarding the many connections that exist.
A disillusioned and disconnected way to live.
Humans aren’t design to live with such division.
It seems like the wrong direction in terms of our health and wellbeing as a whole, and yes, disrespectful.
BUT
I also see a growing sense of understanding and strength brewing as we come to terms with the seemingly disillusioned disconnected view of our world.
I see the healing going on – on so many levels.
We are figuring out how to grow, heal, learn and improve as individuals within a society, in relationship with and as part of our natural world that sustains us as we sustain it.
In what ways do you feel connected?
In what ways do you feel disconnected?
I am curious.
