Recent Posture Perfect Workshop Participant Stated:
It started with the frustration of dealing with a chronically sore and injured shoulder. It ended with a shoulder that is stronger, posture that is dramatically improved, better whole body alignment, and a better appreciation of how my body moves.
Several years of fitness classes and weight lifting had found me fit but with a chronic issue: a sore shoulder that, through enthusiasm and impersonal classes, was not resolving. Enough of that! I remembered that Mary Margaret Lanning is a specialist not only in personal training, but in myoskeletal alignment. I made an appointment, enjoyed a full evaluation and we set up a plan. She reassured me that my issues with scoliosis, kyphosis and osteopenia did not have to prevent me from achieving my goals. These issues would be addressed, and, with hard work, could be improved. With her patient explanations of how the muscles and bones function together, and her insistence on correct body positioning and correct form, I have improved the effectiveness of my workouts. My posture has improved dramatically. The kyphosis is almost completely resolved and I enjoy standing up straight. My spine is still curved a bit but with Mary Margaret’s suggestions, I have made small changes that have improved the effectiveness of my workouts. The osteopenia has stabilized since I started lifting weights and Mary Margaret’s instruction on how to lift weights properly has improved my form and lessened injuries. Her patient manipulation of my shoulder has remarkably improved its mobility, and with her suggestions for stretches and strengthening exercises, the pain has resolved.
Mary Margaret has my deepest appreciation for her professionalism and expertise when it comes to providing instruction and explanations, her patient reminders of how to stand with correct posture, how to perform exercises to get the most benefit, and how to lift weights without causing injury. Her knowledge of how my shoulder was being injured, how to identify and strengthen the muscles and improve my form has made a big difference in how I work out. It has become easier to stand and sit with correct posture as my body recognizes how much better it feels to be in correct alignment. It began with a sore shoulder, but there is really no end in sight as Mary Margaret continues to enable me to safely achieve my fitness goals.
