None of my sites are for emergencies. Call 911 if feeling unsafe. Honest, real, change.

This is how I would define my style of counseling. I am well versed in cognitive-behavioral therapy, as well as in motivational interviewing. I also believe that my 12 years of experience in the non-profit world has help me develop a style that is down to earth but focused on working with the skills that an individual already possess as well as developing the abilities they need to bring them to the level they want to achieve. My work on a crisis team during all those years have also help me develop skills to solve issues in the "here and now" while pointing out where other skills can/should be develop on the future. My experience is mostly with adults with specialties in crisis work, trauma, depression, anxiety, bipolar, anger management, substance use issues, criminal justice involvement. I am not only looking to do therapy, but also consultation and support of others therapists. I have worked with counselors in my field, as well as taught classes as well as state agencies. I have also supervised interns.

Secondary trauma is real—and it doesn’t mean you’re “too sensitive.” It means you’ve had enough exposure to other people’s pain that your nervous system starts carrying it too.
I was invited to do this workshop about what secondary trauma looks like (often in ways people miss), why it builds over time, and a few practical ways to start unloading it—especially for clinicians, first responders, and the people who are always the steady one.
First responders should watch it!

This free training with Steve Bisson, LMHC, explores how secondary trauma develops and offers tools to protect mental health and well-being.
