This is how I would define my style of counseling. I am well versed in cognitive-behavioral therapy, as well as in motivational interviewing. I also believe that my 12 years of experience in the non-profit world has help me develop a style that is down to earth but focused on working with the skills that an individual already possess as well as developing the abilities they need to bring them to the level they want to achieve. My work on a crisis team during all those years have also help me develop skills to solve issues in the "here and now" while pointing out where other skills can/should be develop on the future. My experience is mostly with adults with specialties in crisis work, trauma, depression, anxiety, bipolar, anger management, substance use issues, criminal justice involvement. I am not only looking to do therapy, but also consultation and support of others therapists. I have worked with counselors in my field, as well as taught classes as well as state agencies. I have also supervised interns.
