Lifeguard Marshall County would like to thank the MS Senate for supporting and passing HB1489. This bill will help all MS EMS agencies as we continue to have reimbursement and workforce challenges in our state.

The MS Ambulance Alliance (MAA) appreciates and thanks Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann, Senate Insurance Chairman Walter Michel, Vice Chairman and our bill manager Senator Mike McLendon and the entire Senate for championing MS EMS this week. The Senate Thursday voted 50-0 for HB 1489 that will ensure ambulance providers can get fair reimbursement. Special thanks to Senate Insurance Committee members: Senators Bradford Blackmon, Scott DeLano, Hillman Frazier, Chris Johnson, Brian Rhodes, Ben Suber, Joe Thomas, Neil Whaley and Chuck Younger.

We are excited to share that our first in-house, accredited Advanced EMT course launched earlier this week. The program boasts an impressive 13 students, all of whom are currently employed as EMTs from MedStat, Lifeguard of Marshall County, and Lifeguard of Panola County. The course is being taught at Station 1 in Winona, MS and following the conclusion of this course, all participants will be eligible to test for National Registry and obtain state licensure as an Advanced EMT.

We are incredibly grateful to the Mississippi Healthcare Alliance and Mississippi Center for the Advancement of Prehospital Medicine for their partnership in this endeavor.

Congratulations and good luck to all of the participating students!
