As One80 continues to grow, our staff also grows! Join us in welcoming One80’s Marketing & Outreach Coordinator, Donna Bauer!

Donna was born and raised in North Carolina and brings to One80 over 13 years of experience in leadership and business development. With a combined 10 of those years spent in the fitness industry, Donna solidified her love for people, customer/consumer experience, team culture, and networking. She always appreciated and understood how physical and mental health are intertwined, and has truly found her calling in behavioral health. Through networking, outreach, and intentional brand awareness, Donna is excited to contribute to One80's mission of increasing the reach to individuals in need of quality mental health care. Donna resides just north of Raleigh with her husband Will and their three pups, Jack, Goose, and Nash. In her free time, she enjoys running, hunting/fishing, traveling, and anything outdoors with her little family.

You don’t need to “get back to” anything. This mentally can keep you stuck in the past, and slow down your healing. Rather, the past informed and can instruct the present. But it is not the goal to go back. What do you think? Let me know in the comments!

Conflict is not bad. How we deal with the aftermath of the conflict can lead to problem.

That’s why I alway recommend an argument autopsy after a fight where you can discuss how to avoid fighting about the same topic again.

Of course this doesn’t mean we need to tolerate abuse or bad behavior or boundary disrespect.

We all do things that we wish we could take back. We are human beings, not perfect beings. So when you have done something, you know it immediately, you feel it in your being, call the person, make amends immediately. Say I'm sorry I hurt you, offended you, upset you with my words and/or actions. Then forgive yourself and move on. When we know better, change your behavior and do better.

(Normalize apologizing after you were wrong, instead of being defensive and disrespectful because you're embarrassed.-)

If we're too dysregulated to support our child peacefully in the moment, sometimes we need space. That's okay. If we can be there, though, why wouldn't we be? Humans are designed to co-regulate, not figure everything out for ourselves -- especially when we're young & learning.

Yes.

Learning to accept a loss, admit being wrong, apologize-- don't just happen instantaneously. They develop over time as children begin to learn how to self-regulate disappointment (and prediction errors).
