Let’s talk about something that doesn’t get enough attention—mature skin acne. You think your puberty years are behind you, and now you’re focused on navigating perimenopause or menopause… and suddenly, bam! Acne. Wait, I didn’t even have this as a teenager—why now?! 😩

The answer? Hormonal changes. As estrogen dips and androgens stay steady or rise, your skin may produce more oil, leading to clogged pores and breakouts. Stress makes things worse by increasing cortisol, which also triggers oil production. Add gut imbalances and skincare products that may no longer suit your skin, and it’s a recipe for frustration.

As a teenager, I was obsessed with wellness. I’d flip through magazines, soaking up the latest trends in diets and beauty tricks, thinking, “If it’s trendy, it must work!” So I followed them all. Did I see results? Sometimes. But honestly, they never lasted.

I still remember the infamous tuna salad diet—just the smell of tuna was unbearable for months after that one!

Fast forward to my deeper dive into nutrition—specifically functional nutrition—and everything changed. It felt like someone removed a blindfold, and suddenly, everything became so clear. That “aha” moment when you realize the why behind everything and finally get answers to lingering questions.

I learned the importance of bio-individuality. The biggest takeaway? Most of the generic advice we hear out there doesn’t actually apply to us. Sure, concepts like “exercise more” or “eat healthy” are great, but they’re just scratching the surface.
