September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men in the U.S. Early detection saves lives. ā
šØāāļø Screening matters:
⢠A simple blood test (PSA) and/or a digital re**al exam can detect prostate cancer early.
⢠When caught before it spreads, the 5-year survival rate is an incredible 97.5%.
⢠African-American men face the highest risk, with death rates twice as high as white men.
š„ Risk factors include:
Age, family history, race, certain hormones, high dairy/calcium intake, and low levels of vitamin E and folic acid.
At Common Health Primary Care, we encourage menāespecially those over 50 or at higher riskāto talk with their doctor about prostate cancer screening.
š Early screening can make all the difference.
