Dense breast tissue is very common and not abnormal, but it can make mammogram results harder to interpret. If your results mention dense tissue, your provider may recommend additional imaging like an ultrasound for a clearer look.

Do your self-exam once a month, a few days after your period ends, your breasts are least tender then.
