As we close out 2024, ask yourself:
“Did I truly care for myself this year?”

Self-care isn’t just about treating yourself occasionally—it’s about showing up for yourself every day. It’s in the little things:

• Letting yourself rest without guilt.
• Asking for help when you feel overwhelmed.
• Saying no when your plate is too full.

Sometimes we forget the simple truth: we can’t pour from an empty cup.

But here’s the thing: taking time off because you’re sick isn’t self-care. That’s your body demanding what it needed all along. True self-care is proactive, not reactive.

✨ Self-care isn’t a one-time act; it’s a promise to honor yourself every day.

As 2024 ends, let’s promise to listen to our bodies, honor our boundaries, and treat ourselves with kindness.

How will you commit to yourself in 2025?

Maybe it’s scheduling downtime, being active, or taking that vacation before burnout hits. Whatever it is, remember: you deserve it.

Wishing you a Happy New Year, everyone!

Tis the Season of Sneezing and Coughing—Stay Ahead of Cold Symptoms!

With cooler weather and sniffles in the air, it’s the perfect time to boost your immune system with simple, natural remedies.

While I love creating custom Chinese herbal formulas for my patients, here’s an easy Wellness Tea you can make at home using everyday ingredients.

One of my all-time favorites?
The Ginger Wellness Remedy with ginger, orange peel, dried dates, cinnamon, and honey — a delicious and effective way to fight off cold symptoms.

Here’s why it works:
• Ginger (Jiāng, 姜): Warms the body and soothes sore throats.
• Orange peel (Chen Pi, 陈皮): Clears phlegm and supports digestion.
• Dates (Da Zao, 大枣): Add natural sweetness and provide an energy boost.
• Cinnamon (Rou Gui, 肉桂): Enhances circulation, fights inflammation, and boosts immunity.
• Honey: Soothes the throat and offers antimicrobial benefits.

How to make it:
1️⃣ Slice 2–3 pieces of fresh ginger.
2️⃣ Simmer with 2–3 cups of water for 10 minutes.
3️⃣ Add 1 orange peel, 2–3 dried dates, and 1 cinnamon stick to a pot. Simmer for 10 more minutes.
4️⃣ Strain and sweeten with honey to taste.

Sip this warming tea twice a day to ease cold symptoms and support your immune system.

What’s your go-to cold-weather remedy? I’d love to hear what works for you!

Stay warm, stay healthy, and take care of yourself this season.

Step 7 of my 7 Steps to Transform Your Journey: Reflect and Recharge – Celebrate Progress

When was the last time you paused to celebrate your progress?

“Happiness is not something you postpone for the future; it is something you design for the present.” – Jim Rohn

It’s so easy to rush from one goal to the next, overlooking the small (or even big) wins along the way. But joy isn’t found at the finish line—it’s part of the journey itself.

As the week wraps up, I invite you to reflect:

• What’s one win you’re proud of this week—big or small?

• How will you celebrate it today?

For me, rebuilding our clinic feels like starting my career all over again. Some days, it’s overwhelming and exhausting, testing my patience and perseverance. But I’ve realized this process is a milestone in itself—a reminder to honor the effort, not just the outcome.

Happiness isn’t a distant destination; it’s something we create, here and now.

Let’s celebrate our progress in the present moment.

What’s your win this week? I’d love to know~

A devastating fire took away what my mom and I built over 30 years—a place of healing and hope.

It wasn’t just a business.
It was a community.
A source of stability.
My mom’s legacy in the heart of Koreatown, Los Angeles.

We thought we had survived the hardest part—the first year of the pandemic.
But in an instant, everything changed.

The fire didn’t just take our clinic.
It drained my motivation and sense of purpose.

I was lost—stressed, overwhelmed, and heartbroken.
I was supposed to heal others, but I couldn’t even heal myself.

Starting over felt impossible.
I felt like a failure.

But here’s the lesson I’ve learned…

Success isn’t about holding onto what you’ve built; it’s about staying true to why you built it.

Sometimes, life forces us to let go of what’s comfortable.

Growth doesn’t happen when things go as planned—it happens when we face the unexpected and find the strength to rebuild, piece by piece.

This challenge didn’t just push us to rebuild a clinic; it pushed us to rebuild ourselves.

And truthfully, I’m still healing…

But now I know that healing doesn’t mean going back to who you were.
It’s about stepping into who you’re meant to become.

What’s a challenge that made you stronger?
I’d love to hear your story!

Step 5: Resilience got you here—now it’s time to refine your focus.

“The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities.” – Stephen Covey

We all have the same 24 hours, yet some feel overwhelmed while others feel fulfilled. What’s the difference?

Clarity.

When you focus on what truly matters, your energy shifts from being busy to being productive. It’s not about doing more—it’s about doing what aligns with your values and goals.

Ask yourself today:
• What matters most to me right now?
• How can I make time for it today?

This week, let’s get rid of distractions and focus on meaningful actions.

What’s your top priority today?

(This is Step 5 of 7 Steps to Transform Your Journey—stay tuned for more!)

Step 4 of my 7 Steps to Transform Your Journey: Challenges are part of every journey, but resilience is what keeps us moving forward.

What sets us apart is how we respond.

As Winston Churchill said: “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.”

After closing our Koreatown clinic due to a fire, starting over was one of the hardest challenges we’ve ever faced. My mom opened that clinic 30 years ago, making it not just a place of healing but a part of our family’s legacy. While it was a moment of heartbreak, it also gave us the opportunity to grow and improve.

I learned that while we can’t always control what happens, we can control how we choose to move forward.

Every setback teaches a lesson, and every failure plants the seeds of a comeback. True success isn’t about never falling—it’s about rising stronger each time.

This week, take a moment to reflect:
• What’s one challenge that transformed you?
• How has it prepared you for what’s ahead?

Resilience is your superpower. Keep going—you’re stronger than you think, and your story is still being written.

Let’s share and inspire each other: What’s your story?

Step 2: What is the Role of Habits?

Taking the first step is important, but lasting success requires consistency.

Big goals can feel overwhelming, but the secret is simple: focus on small, positive habits and show up every day.
• A daily walk to improve your health.
• Ten minutes of journaling to clear your mind.
• Small, consistent actions that move you toward your goals.

Success isn’t built in a day—it’s built day by day. Your habits shape your future.

What’s one small habit you’re committing to this week?

Let’s start today and build momentum, together.

Step 1: Take the First Step – Overcoming Fear

“The first step is the hardest.”

Fear often whispers, “What if you fail?”
Then ask yourself instead, “What if I succeed?”

What if that first step leads to something better than where you are now?

Every success story begins with a leap of faith. Whether it’s launching a project, having a tough conversation, or pursuing a long-held dream—today is the day to take that first step.

Ask yourself:
• What’s one small step I can take today to move closer to my goal?

No step is too small.

Progress begins when you start where you are, use what you have, and trust the process.

After 20 years in the safe and familiar environment of my clinic—a place where I’ve built confidence and security—stepping out of my comfort zone has been a challenge. But each day, I take one small step to push past fear, embrace growth, and share my knowledge.

What’s your first step today? Let’s overcome fear together, one step at a time.

Is self-care the last thing on your to-do list?
You’re not alone. When life gets busy, it’s easy to prioritize others and forget yourself—I’ve been there too.

Burnout was my wake-up call: self-care isn’t selfish, it’s essential. Even as a self-care specialist, learning to prioritize myself has been a journey. Now, I’m focusing on small but meaningful changes—and here are 5 simple ways to manage your time for self-care:

1️⃣ Prioritize Self-Care with the 80/20 Rule
Focus on the 20% of activities that bring 80% of the benefits to your well-being. Think short walks, mindful breathing, or prepping a healthy meal.

2️⃣ Set Clear, Achievable Goals
Start small! Break bigger goals, like better sleep or stress relief, into manageable steps. Build consistency without overwhelm.

3️⃣ Use Time-Blocking for Self-Care
Add self-care activities to your calendar—stretching, meditation, or even a quiet tea break. Treat this time like an important appointment.

4️⃣ Minimize Self-Care Disruptors
Overworking? Skipping meals? It’s time to set boundaries. Protect your energy with “me-time” or tech-free breaks.

5️⃣ Reflect and Adjust for Balance
Each week, review what worked and what didn’t. Keep it simple and aligned with your self-care goals.

Your well-being deserves a place in your schedule.
Start small, stay consistent, and watch the transformation unfold!

What’s one self-care habit you’ll focus on this week? Let’s inspire each other—share in the comments!
