When brushing your little one’s teeth, using the right amount of toothpaste is key to keeping their smile healthy and safe. For toddlers under 3 years old, just a tiny smear of toothpaste the size of a grain of rice is all they need.

This small amount helps protect their developing teeth while minimizing the risk of swallowing too much fluoride. Once your child turns 3, you can increase the amount of toothpaste to a pea-sized amount.

This gradual adjustment supports effective cleaning as they learn to brush more independently. Remember, the right amount of toothpaste is an essential step in promoting lifelong healthy oral habits!

Did you know every child grows 20 baby teeth before their 32 permanent teeth come in? These little teeth play a significant role in your child’s smile and overall health.

Teaching your child how to care for each baby tooth is essential because it sets the foundation for a lifetime of strong, healthy teeth. Healthy baby teeth help with proper chewing and speech development and ensure there’s enough space for permanent teeth to grow in correctly.

Start good habits early, like brushing twice daily, flossing gently, and visiting your pediatric dentist regularly, to keep those teeth shining bright!

What happens if tongue-tie (ankyloglossia) is left untreated? It may seem minor, but not treating it can lead to:

-Speech delays: Difficulty pronouncing sounds like “t,” “d,” “l,” and “r.”
-Oral health challenges: Restricted tongue movement can interfere with cleaning food debris, raising risks of cavities and gum disease.
-Crowded or misaligned teeth: Without proper tongue movement, jaw and palate development may be affected, leading to bite issues down the line.

Early intervention through a simple frenectomy can help your child speak clearly, eat comfortably, and develop a healthy smile.

👉 Worried your child has a tongue-tie? Contact us today at (754) 263-2433 for an evaluation!

If your child plays sports or enjoys high-energy activities, a custom-fit mouthguard is one of the best ways to protect their smile. 🏈⚽

Mouthguards help prevent broken or chipped teeth, and they also shield the lips, tongue, cheeks, and jaw from injuries during impact.

Whether it’s football, skateboarding, gymnastics, or martial arts, a well-fitted mouthguard can make all the difference. 😁Ask us which option is best for your child’s activity level and growing smile.

You're not alone—many parents have similar questions when it comes to their child’s smile. Here are the top 3 dental concerns we hear most often:

✅Thumb sucking and pacifier use:
Parents often worry about how long is too long. While soothing habits are typical in early years, prolonged use can affect tooth alignment and jaw development.

✅Cavities in baby teeth:
Yes, baby teeth can get cavities—and they matter! Untreated decay can lead to pain, infection, or problems with future adult teeth.

✅Tooth alignment and spacing:
Are those gaps or crowding normal? Every child’s smile develops differently, but early evaluations can catch signs of alignment issues before they progress.

Regular checkups and good habits at home can help address these and more. We're here to help you feel confident about your child's oral health.
