On this World Mental Health Day, we recognize the critical importance of mental health awareness and the urgent need for accessible care. With nearly 30 million people in the U.S. lacking necessary mental health services, it's crucial to understand the broader implications for our communities and workplaces. Statistics reveal that 1 in 5 adults and 1 in 6 youth experience mental health issues each year, highlighting the need for proactive support systems. As we observe this day, let us foster collaboration among organizations to address these challenges effectively. Together, we can create a more supportive environment for all.

The Maryland Commission on LGBTQIA+ Affairs, in partnership with the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, is conducting a Community Needs Assessment to better understand the experiences of LGBTQIA+ individuals living in Maryland.

"We invite you to take part in a brief, anonymous questionnaire (about 15–20 minutes) to share your perspectives. Your input will help inform policies, programs, and resources that support LGBTQIA+ Marylanders. The survey is open from October 1, 2025 to December 1, 2025.

Participation is voluntary. You may skip any questions you do not wish to answer, and you may stop at any time. No identifying information, including your name, email, or IP address, will be collected. There is no compensation for participation, and there are no significant direct risks or benefits to you."

To participate, please visit this link: surveymonkey.com/r/MDLGBTQIA

Your voice matters. Please share with your friends, colleagues, and networks. Thank you for helping us better understand and serve Maryland’s LGBTQIA+ communities.
