He uses a wide range of practices including CBT, MI, and Wim Hof Method breath work and other mind-body practices. EMC provides experiential, mind-body talk therapy to reduce traumatic stress and improve performance. We also conduct state of the art motivational interviewing and trauma resolution clinical training and other organization enrichment events and services. When people experience physic
al or sexual abuse, assault, or other violence or adverse event, their mind may or may not form a traumatic or emotional memory. If it did, when recalling information brought in through the senses about the event, they re-experience a stress response and negative emotion, (e.g., fear, anger, guilt or shame). If no emotional memory was formed, or it has been "cleared", all accessible info can be recalled and no negative response activates. It is understood consciously and cognitively, as well as subconsciously by primitive mind, that nothing needs to be done or stopped. Think of your first crush and try to be devastated that you are not together. That emotional memory was probably fully processed long ago. Other, perhaps more threatening memories, can sometimes get "stuck". During a flashback, primitive subconscious mind "believes" the event is happening. It is why the combat veteran hits the deck when the fire cracker pops, despite cognitively "knowing" it is the fourth of July. Our experiential, mind-body treatment deactivates the stress response to memories of or information about an adverse event. A single session may take several hours but is designed to resolve the presenting problem or complaint then and there. Common treatment targets include phobias, panic attacks, traumatic memories and other stress, feelings of guilt, shame, or anger, and increased expressiveness, responsiveness and connection. Negative emotional memories take energy to maintain. We believe that energy is freed and health, wellness, mindfulness, and performance are boosted, as mind is cleared of stress reactions.
