Caso clínico – Prolapso vaginal ✨

Nuestra paciente, una perrita hembra intacta, llegó con un prolapso vaginal, un problema poco común pero serio.

Después de estabilizarla realizamos cirugía correctiva y ovariohisterectomía, evitando recurrencias.

Las fotos antes y después muestran el cambio: de tejido inflamado a una recuperación limpia y estable.

A blood smear is more than a routine test—it’s a microscopic look at the shape, size, and arrangement of every blood cell, revealing changes that routine analyzers can miss
By carefully examining red cells, white cells, and platelets, veterinarians can:

• Detect anemia and evaluate its cause
• Identify infections or inflammatory changes
• Red cells morphology like Keratocytes: These “helmet cells” form when red cells are damaged by oxidative stress, toxins, vascular disease, or certain anemias. Spotting keratocytes helps us detect issues like hemangiosarcoma, microangiopathic anemia, fatty liver or even hidden inflammation.
• Spot abnormal cells that may indicate immune disorders or cancer

🐾, 🩺, 🔬 🔎 Interesting Case Presentation
Today we share a rare and challenging case of idiopathic granulomatous marginal blepharitis in a dog.

👁️ Clinical presentation:
The patient arrived with chronic swelling and nodular thickening along the eyelid margin, complicated by an ulcerated lesion that was causing discomfort, irritation, and recurrent conjunctival inflammation. Routine causes such as infection, parasites, or autoimmune disease were ruled out, confirming the diagnosis of idiopathic blepharitis.

💊 Treatment & evolution:
A tailored therapeutic approach was instituted combining local and systemic therapy to control inflammation, heal the ulceration, and restore normal eyelid architecture.
The response was remarkable — within weeks the nodular and ulcerated lesion resolved, the eyelid margin regained its definition, and the patient was comfortable again.

The images clearly demonstrate the transformation: from inflamed, nodular, and ulcerated eyelid to a healthy and smooth margin post-treatment.

✨ Take-home message:
Granulomatous marginal blepharitis with ulceration is uncommon, often frustrating for both veterinarians and pet owners. With careful diagnosis, elimination of underlying causes, and patient-specific treatment, excellent outcomes can be achieved.
